People saying it's his fault need to get their head out of their ass.

Oh wait, they're on OT, it's not possible...

Wow, I can't believe he said "screw you". It's sad that he had no reservations about saying that to you.
However, for the next ~36 hours, I say forget it and enjoy your Christmas. But after that, well it might be time to go back to walmart.
Also, if your local news has a reporter who is "looking out for you", they would probably eat this story up.... just a thought.

Edit: What's with all the comments about it being right before close on Christmas eve? Should the OP have gone to Walmart at 5:45 (close at 6) on Christmas Eve? Of course not, I understand them closing at 5:45. I think the only reason the OP even ranted about the "closing early" is b/c the guy said "screw you". They may only make $6, it doesn't come with a free pass to be rude to the customers.

How many of us could be rude like this to a customer at work and then tell the boss "I had a long day and dealt with sh!tty customers"? Not many of us would get a "oh ok" response.

Hey F*ck stain, if they didnt want to work on Christmas eve at $6 an hour they can alwats quit!

AGAIN, I understand it's Christmas Eve, My point is that this guy was out of lline when all I asked was if they actually closed. I said NICE and started turning around, then he had the nerve to say those comments. I did not say one derogatory thing to this guy!

If this has been December 2nd and they did this, I'd agree with you. But this is Christmas Eve and all they want to do is go home and be with their families. They've probably dealt with sh!tty customers all day long and they're ready to go home and relax with family and friends.

Seriously, why wait 20 mins before closing on Christmas Eve to go do shopping at Wal-Mart of ALL PLACES!!!!! By the time you fight through the crowd of people inside and get checked out, it would probably be past 6 o'clock. So no wonder he was pissed.

As for him being an ass about it, I don't agree with that. He could have just said, we're closing early have a nice day.

the language was unacceptable if it really was said. To the OP, it's Christmas eve. At Kmart, we are open until 9pm tonight. If some douchebag comes in at 5 to close and plans on spending an hour in there, that kid said everything I wish I could say to you.

No, you did nothing wrong and are completely in the right here (well, maybe you should have rang his bell, but have fun with it on Monday).

Your just the victim of typical internet behaviour. Your right, so a bunch of clowns needs to prove your wrong. Ironically, if the same thing happened to them, they would have posted the same thread.

The guy just said what most people in retail think when someone rushes in just before closing.

No my wife forgot to buy oil for baking tomorrow andI was going to get a movie to use up the gift card. 15 minutes would would have been 13 more than I needed. I am sure though that you always go hours before store close!

Not always, but on freaking Christmas Eve I do. I have no sympathy for anyone who tries to get in at nearly closing time on Christmas Eve.

Personally, I think that they should shut down at noon, and piss on everyone who thinks that stores should be open all the time.

More times than I can count, I have had to rush to a store to buy something 20 minutes before they close. I always try to shop quickly and get out before the actual closing time, but I would have been very unhappy with any establishment that advertised a certain closing time, then closed the doors in my face early. That is just plain bad customer service.

And if I was the employee, and had been told to close early, i would have just said 'I am sorry, but i have been instructed to close up now. Have a nice day' as I closed the door in your face.

there was no reason for him to speak to the OP like that... even if that was what he was thinking, he should never have said it.

i would imagine that this kid will be fired right after the Xmas holiday, if the OP speaks to the PTB.

Wanting to go home and be with their families is fine. The walmart kid telling the OP "screw you" is unnaceptable. You are missing the point of the entire post.

All day every day? Even on Christmas and New Years? That just plain sucks for those scheduled to work.

Did you read my post? I said that I didn't agree with the kid being an ass, but being pissed about them closing 20 mins early? It's friggin' Christmas Eve. He should be at home drinking eggnog and eating bad Christmas cookies.

Ever think of what a ****** day he problebly had? All the trash people and crying babies he had to deal with. And then to top the night off he has your dumb ass trying to get in 20 min. before close, on the night before the biggest holiday of the year. Yes he should have not said what he said but I understand why he did.

I work in retail (manage a computer store) and I'm going to have to agree with the OP. If I post somewhere or tell someone that I'm open until a certain time, then I'm open until that time. There is no going home early. If you want to go home early, then you should have been telling people that you are going to be closing at 4PM instead of 6PM. Simple as that.

I would definitely go back and see about getting the guy back for that BS.

I've had people come by after we have closed our store and said sorry gotta go....but sometimes I do help them out if I don't have anywhere I have to go. It just depends. Bottom line though - stay open until your advertised closing time. If you don't want to stay that late, advertise an earlier closing time.

That guy obviously does not understand anything about customer service...but hey what do you expect form Wallyworld?

The same thing wouldn't happen to 99% of us b/c we know not to go out expecting service this late on Christmas Eve.

It's kinda like the lady with a cart full of sh!t trying to go through the express lane. If you're a cashier and there's no one else in line behind her and it's a slow day, you may just say "Ah, what the hell" and let her come on through without even saying a word.

But if she tries to check out in the express lane when it's busy as hell and there are 10 other people in line behind her with 10 items or less, you'd probably be pissed as hell (as would the other customers).

OK, it's not exactly the same thing, but what I'm trying to say is that there are varying degrees of acceptance in large retail chain like Wal-Mart.

Coming in 20 mins before closing on March 9th: Fine
Coming in 20 mins before closing on Christmas Eve: Fvck Off
April 22nd: "Excuse me Guy in the blue vest, can you help me find this and that and that and that?" Sure, no problem maam.
December 24th at 5:45PM: "BITCH, I'm trying to do a million things at once here all while trying to finish up so I go home. SCREW YOU! Find it your damn self"

i have worked retail and owned a store. While the hours may be set on th ewindow it does not mean i wont change them if i feel the need.

Its not always about costumer service. Sometimes you need to give the workers a break. IF they had a hard day of busting their ass i have closed shop to get them home. While i have never been open on x-mas eve i can understand closeing it down 20 min early. IF someone is looking for a gift then that is their problem. they should have planned better.

only problem i see is the attitude from the worker. I do not care that they have had a hard day. They still need to show a shopper some respect. IF you are closeing tell them "sorry we are closing early! thanks for stopping bye!" If i had ever seen a employee say anytthing like what the op cliams i would fire them on the spot.

haveing the store close 20 min early is good. sorry if the op didnt get something. maybe next year they will make sure they have everything they need before the holiday.
