Oh and those who say post this in P&N this is a broad question that crosses all boundaries and I wanted to reach my constituents.

doesn't it seem wrong to kick out illegal immagrants since that was how our entire country was founded? and what about the fact that our entire economy would collapse without them? and if you think removeing bribes fromt eh govrnment is going to solve our problems you've got annother thing comming pal. Money is not the problem, its an idiot population putting morons like Wubbya into office, or in his first term, not putting him in but letting it slide...

I wouldn't kick anyone out, but I would further secure our borders and encourage outsourcing to Mexico.

I would remove the income tax, and cut the federal budget by as much as the income tax currently pays for - and then set a tax maximum for any citizen/company, and force a limitation on the budget to never exceed what taxes can bring in.

hahaha free medical care...'FREE' is a relative term. I have friends in Sweden..where their medical care is 'free' it takes 9 months to see a doctor. Her husband needed knee surgery..it took over almost a year to get the surgery scheduled and completed. He had it done here on his other knee in 3 weeks.

Send all the war mongers to Iraq and have them patrol the streets. Including the ones on this board.

-Pour money into research for non-fossil fuels so that we can wipe our hands of the middle east and their oil monopoly.

1) Reform the legal, judicial & penitentiary systems. Frivolous lawsuits, ambulance chasing scumbag lawyers (redundant, I know), juries made up of adults with the equivalent of a 6th grade education, murderers & child molestors spending just a few years in prison (if that), prisons being better places to live than most of the country... Enough is enough, this all needs to change.

2) Get religion out of government. More than anything else, I think it's what is responsible for a number of troubling things about our nation, from our paralyzing fear of sexuality to our penchant for imposing our will on other countries, whether they like it or not, 'for their own good'. No offense, I'm Catholic myself, just don't think it's a good idea for religion to have the influence in government which it's been enjoying since Jan. '01.

1. Reduce or eliminate frivolous/ridiculous lawsuits and ambulance-chasing lawyers.
2. From a societal point of view, stop playing the "Blame everyone else but yourself" game.

1) Remake the education system just like the Japanese. You want any form of education, you pay for it. Stuff given out for free is taken for granted. Something that has to be earned is not taken so lightly. Especially when your whole life depends on it.

2) I can't think of a number two just yet but I have to go number two right now and will think on number two while I'm working on number two.

Pretty soon the South will be the only productive place left in the US, the uinions are destroying everywhere else. Do some research and I bet you find the places with the largest economic growth will be in the southern portion of the country while most other places are declining to some degree.

Ok, I am President. You are a member of Congress and you want something for your constituents.

Our conversation:

H: I understand T that you have an idea for a project in your district. I think it's a good idea, but I have some concerns.

T: Mr President could you elaberate?

H: Call me H, T. We've known each other for years. To be blunt, you haven't been exactly supportive of my military actions in X, and now you will be passing a piece of legislation before me for funding. Can you give me a good reason why I should allow it to go through?

T: H, this is a project much needed and the timing is right. I have gotten support for this and it will be of benefit to the citizens of my state. Is that not good enough?

H: Well T, I would really like to help, but there are a whole lot of other people who want money for various things too. Some of them back me fully. If you were one of them, we both could get what we want.

T: Mr. President, you are saying that if I support your position in this war you will not line item veto my project.

H: Oh no, that would be unreasonable. I just want you to quietly be supportive for my efforts abroad. You need say nothing in my defense, just don't oppose me. You know that the race in your district is kind of tight, and bring home the bacon as it were would make the difference.

T: Ok, Mr. President. You win.

H: <hanging up speaking to himself now> Yes, I always win now.

May as well just get rid of Congress if we did that, don't ya think?

My 2 ideas:

1. Pass a constitutional amendment repealing the 16th Amendment.
2. Pass a constitutional amendment that places a 3-year sunset clause into every law and legislation, federal, state, or local. Every law, whether for jaywalking or for murder, has to renewed every 3 years. This way the legislators are kept busy, and no useless law stays on the books forever. And if a law proves unpopular, it doesn't have to be repealed, it just goes away after 3 years.

Wrong and wrong. The country was not founded on illegal immigrants.
Our entire economy would certainly not collapse without them. It might even be better off.

If its that important, and not just some pork barrel crap; congress has the power to overturn a veto

H: T, I hear you and some of the boys in Congress were thinking of overturning a veto of mine.

T: Mr. Pres...

H: No, T. We had a deal that you would support me.

T: That was over another issue.

H: I wanted your support. I don't care about the issue. Now I have checked into a few troublemakers over there, and they are also having some problems. You DO realize that in the current situation the balance of power has tipped my way because I control the purse strings, not Congress when I want to, right?

T: That's not fair.

H: Fair? This is politics. You've been around enough to know that word means nothing. It's all about getting the job done.
Here is how this plays out. You and the others WILL support me every time you get a call like this or I will eviscerate you and your district and there is nothing you can do about it. I have already contacted and influenced enough people to make this veto a non issue. At this point it's all about paybacks. How do YOU want to be paid back? Think carefully. Call me in 24 hours.

<click>

A line item veto isn't about cutting "pork" because EVERYTHING is pork to someone. It's about control. Every federal dollar your state gets is pork. I can slice your hamstrings in such a way that you as a Representative would be tarred and feathered, and I am an amateur. Image what Karl Rove could do with it.

When the President controls the dollars, he controls Congress independently of the Party.
