If your card is giving you problems in default then it's a fvck up card and you need to RMA it.

I've downloaded AtiTool 0.24 and whithout having modded or overclocked my X800Pro, i get artifacts when I hit "Scan For Artifacts"!!! I repeat it in case it is too odd for you to understand (i really don't blame you...):

i get artifacts from atitool with the standard core/memory clocks and with no 4-extra pipes enabled!

My card is the Sapphire X800Pro ViVo 256MB GDDR3.

Does this mean that I'll face problems should i try to flash it to XT PE or is a bug of the program??

Any help would be precious :)

Any ideas??

Make sure you dont have fraps running or something similar

Hmm... it seems that the problem was nothing serious, I've done the test again several times without any problems. :)

The other thing remains though: When i raise the Mhz of the core (at 520 -standard XT PE core clock), AtiTool doesn't come up with any artifacts. Should i try to overclock the memory (even at 470Mhz) artifacts appear...

Does this mean that I'll face any problems if I try to flash my card to XT PE??

I'd like to mention here that the Sapphire version of the X800Pro does not have heatsinks on the memory chips. Has this anything perhaps to do with the problem?

I believe that you have a heat problem, you can buy the ATI silencer 4 to cool it down.

Thanks for the answers guys, the problem is finally solved! :)

I now have a fully fledged Ati Radeon X800XT (not PE as my card seems to have artifacts with the PE clocks) with 16 pipelines!!

Before flashing:
3D Mark 2003: 10.280

After:
3D Mark 2003: 11.750
3D Mark 2005: 5.667

I haven't tested the card before the flashing with 3DMark2005, sorry   :)

Thanks MegaWorks for this awsome thread! :)

Hey guys,
ive read all the forums but i couldnt find people modding this board,
MSI VIVO PRO 256 VTD.

Following this steps,
Clean all drivers uninstalling and using driverclean
flash the bios with success (ive tried x800pro16.bin, gigabytex800xt.bin, atix800xt.bin) with success.
I restart the box.
Windows boot up in vga mode, then it ask for drivers (X800 XT Platinum Edition).. then ask for reboot
So I reboot, and during the boot process, on the windows logon, with good resolution (Win 2k SP4), the monitor turns off (led blinking), and the system hang..

The specs of the board: MSI RX800Pro 256-VTD, has the yellow connector and 1.6 ns Samsung memory.
Note: After the flash, in windows with standard VGA driver, ive look at AtiTOOL, shown the XT clocks (520/560) but in the pipelines shown 0 (zero).. this is show after the drivers are loaded only?

I rollback the bios flash to the backup, x800orig.bin and windows boot up again..

If YOU! can help me reply this thread or contact me by email/msn..

Well, I'm new here. I just purchased a Sapphire X800 Pro 256 from zipzoomfly for $259 with free shipping. I just flashed it to an X800 XT PE and so far it's working! Pipelines show up as 16 in ATI Tool and I tested for max speeds before I flashed. Everything seems ok so far. This is very cool.

Thanks!

Can i use the methods described here (and the bios files linked?) plus will the cooler on the card, considering the cards closer to p.e speeds be more suitable for the increased speeds/temperatures (ie i won't need to change it)?

on a slightly different note somebody mentioned that people could sell flashed x800 pro as xt's on ebay, and the bios would tell the computer that it was an xt. Are there any physical diffrences to tell them apart?? Such as a code number, different coolers, chips etc? Its just somebody I know is buying one, and I don't think they'd like paying for something thatwasn't as described.....

I never saw this method, but overclocking the card should do the trick. :)

Sorry it doesn't, only with the 1.6ns version.

This topic looks abandoned for a few weeks. Seeing as how it's been up for a year.... I can understand that. It's just so dang interesting. I bought myself a Sapphire X800PRO VIVO PCI-E and it works great as is.

Went from an X300SE..... terrible card, but that's what was in the machine. Ran 3dmark05 at 1024x768 with both cards and came up with these:

X300SE - 871
X800PRO - 4761

I used ATITool to overclock it and came up with a max OC of 617/563. From what I've seen, the memory is low and the core is way high. I clocked them to 585/540 and complete stability... period. Nothing can shake it. Going to move to an AC 5 and try more OC'ing with that. Currently using stock cooling. Temps are around 80C at load. 47C idle. No difference in temps after OC I might add, thought that was sort of unusual.

X800PRO OC - 5671

Now I'm wondering how to make this mod work on PCI-E cards. At the beginning of this thread, it was said that it didn't work with PCI-E. This was true at the time, but now it seems that W1zzzard has updated the utility in January of '05. Has anyone tested it to see if it works on a PCI-E board? Thanks for the info guys.

Cheers

I really wish I knew how the "PCI-E mod" works if it exists. :(

It seems that you have dead pipes, I don't think your card is able to fonction with all 16 pipes.

Hi

around 6 months ago, i soft modded my ATI x800 pro vivo into an XT using the step by step guide here. Everything was fine until i start getting some weirds things in my games (crashes, artifacts) so i downloaded ati tool to low my clock/memory speed a bit. Its getting annoying to low my speeds each time i wanna start a game so i would like to have a detailled guide how to turn back into my x800 pro (I mean, a noob guide! )

thanks!

Did you backup your original bios? If yes then flash it back to your card.

Assuming you called the backup 'backup.rom' type this from the 'A:\' prompt:

'flashrom -p 0 backup.rom' for ATI video cards using FLASHROM.

And press ENTER.

Your old BIOS information will be reprogrammed onto the card, and hopefully will put everything right.

If for some reason you restarted the system after an error, or you lost video for some other reason, you can still salvage things, but it's going to take a little hardware. You will need a PCI video card installed in your system before you can attempt the rescue.

Once you have a PCI video card installed alongside your ailing AGP card, plug the monitor into the PCI card and boot the system with your BIOS flash disk. From the 'A:\' prompt, type the following:

'flashrom -p 0 backup.rom' for ATI video cards using FLASHROM

Then, press ENTER. If the flash goes correctly, you can shut down the system, remove the PCI card and replug your AGP video. It should be back to normal.

Am I the best or what! :D

I did as u said and i have this error message:

BIOSDEVICEID = 0X4A49
ASICDEVICEID = 0X4A50
EXISTING SSID = 0X0002
NEW SSID = 0X0D62

SSID DOES NOT MATCH WITH BIOS FILES "BACKUP.BIN" SSID!
USE -F TO FORCE FLASHING

should i force this? if yes, i put -f instead of -p?

well at the begining (a few months ago), i followed the instructions and did "flashrom -s 0 backup.bin" to make a backup so i assume the backup.bin file is my backup...
