Let's face it, why else would they want everyone to turn it on, if not to have complete access to your system, and we can only guess as to what type of information is being transmitted to them.....
 
Umm, maybe so the clueless masses can keep their systems up to date? You of all people should realize how many morons are out there. I'm not sure if you've looked at large amounts of traffic, but there are some morons out there that don't update their systems, that don't use common sense, and don't use best practices when it comes to security.

Nah I've encased my entire computer and monitor with welded neodymium magnets. That, and my tinfoil fallback protection suit shall defend my humble abode.
 
And another odd thing: have you noticed that all microsoft games come in this horrible cheap cardboard cases instead of the normal CD jewel cases ? WTF !?!? what's up with that ?

Yes, I'm beginning to realize just how many morons are out here, no matter what the title.

Back on topic, I suggest to anyone that wants to update their system using the windows update site, to keep Windows installed on a separate disk, and before updating, disconnect or disable all your other disks, so they could only access your windows stuff during the update. Hopefully there is no sensitive information on that partition.

I suggest to anyone that wants to update their system using the windows update site, to keep Windows installed on a separate disk, and before updating disconnect or disable all your other disks, so they could only access your windows stuff during the update. What a load of crap. If they were going to get information from your system, do you think they'd only limit to windows update and automatic update? Please, sneaking that information out of your computer wouldn't be tough to do at any time.
