Those who don't know WTF they're doing deserve to get screwed. Those who do know what they're doing aren't going to have problems.

Interesting logic there, Nik.

So, since I don't know how to fix every part of my car, I deserve to get screwed by a mechanic?
Since many other people don't know ASP.NET development as well as I do, they deserve to be screwed by me when I make them a quote for a website?

These are two examples of bad business. They both involve charging too much, and won't do a whole lot for the proprietor in the end.

1st: This belongs to Software forum
2nd: It's been discussed to death, only a n00b would make a thread like this.
3rd: To quote Yossarian "go away n00b."

Yes. :p If you DO go to a mechanic, you're getting screwed because you should be able to spend a little time in the library and buy a few new tools to do it all yourself. :p

What if I live in an apt complex that strictly forbids working on cars in the parking lot?
Besides which, some things are just more cost effective to take to a reliable mechanic, such as rebuilding a transmission.

n0cmonkey, when I mentioned you were not being on topic, I was just referring to your "blah blah..." post, not any other post, which I agree are mostly on topic, so hopefully you will not post any more "blah blah" posts.

I knew what you were referring to. I've seen your threads before, I understand how it works, and I will continue to make more "blah blah" posts.

if you want to make "blah blah" posts I suggest you start a "blah blah" thread

Why? So 30 people can post "REPOST!" and link to this thread?

This is not a serious issue; this is pure speculation. Unless you've got definitive proof of Microsoft invading our privacy through Automatic Updates, then you're merely trolling.

Post something better than "well, it could happen!" or admit you're just another moron with a computer.

This guy is still alive and talking?

Look, dude. If Microsoft really wanted to "spy on us", do you think they would have to use WindowsUpdate?

NO. WE USE THEIR OS.

There are about a 100 billion ways they could code a few dozen backdoors into their own software.

Reality. Get in touch with it.

Nik: FreeBSD will run just fine on that setup, actually, the FreeBSD Nvidia drivers are newer for than the Linux Nvidia drivers.

There, I voted you a 1 just to even it out.

Does anyone pay attention to those things? And is there a way to find out who rated you what? I know I've gotten plenty of 1s. :p

I dunno if anyone pays attention to them, but I built up a decent rating by being helpful to the AT community and being active on the FS and HD forums. I don't guess it matters much, because for the most part, the rating doesn't seem indicative of a member's usefulness or helpfulness around here.

I don't think there's a way for a non-mod to find out who rated what... but it's not too hard to figure out who did so in this case, unless user1234's got an admirer who is too ashamed to admit it publicly. ;)

You know... in retrospect... I probably just should have said "go away n00b" like several others did and left it at that. The less we respond to User1234, the less he'll post around here.

I'm occassionally helpful, and my rating is pretty low (it's higher than usual though :Q).

I know, don't feed the trolls! But I was really bored. :p

What's the point of moving it AND deleting it? :p

They probably left it around to give me something to do until I can go home.
