Yeah...I've been told this a few times myself. I honestly have not done any research though. The mercury is supposed to come from all the pollution in the ocean where a lot of these fish are caught.

not sure about foreign tuna, but Aussie northern and southern bluefin tuna used for commecial purposes is generally farmed so i doubt that the mercury content would be come a health hazard.

Yeah, and grilled steak causes cancer. LoL, you should be out living life and not worrying if eating tuna or steak will knock a couple years off your lifespan, when it's your time to go you'll know.

Well I know pregnant women in the UK are advised not to eat more than two (?) cans a week due to the murcury levels, and our government (UK) is not always the most stringant regarding public health!

No more than two cans a week? Don't think I'm dangerously above that level...

Are you a woman? Are you a child? If the answers to these questions is "no", then don't worry about the mercury level in tuna. If you are concerned, try switching to "chunk light" instead of white/albacore.

Yech. At that point you might as well just switch to cat food.

Wow. I thought organic compounds of mercury were safe for consumption, and that just the elemental form was toxic. I will have to look into this.

Folks, folks, folks.
It takes a lot of mercury to kill you. You will probably just go insane....which probably isn't all that bad when you're 80 anyway :)

Most of these warnings are from the same government that approves things like paxil and recommends dosing our children with psychiatric medicine and wants to put prozac in people's water....

I call SHENS. Eat all the tuna you want and reap the wonderful benefits..
