He seems to view trade balance as his legacy, and he doesn't appear to care anymore how it affects his popularity. Trump wants to be seen as the "guy who brought fairness to US trade deals with the rest of the world". Whether you agree with him or not about whether international trade had been fair to the US over the past decades is certainly up to the individual.

If that's how he wants to be known that's bad news for him because he's failed at it. He's gotten several minor concessions from our closest allies in exchange for demolishing our credibility for a generation. It's been a total disaster.

Trump believes that trade is a zero sum game and that the only metric that matters is comparing money in and money out. That's it. It's all that Trump understands (money), and it's actually something he really doesn't understand at all (lifelong history of abject failure in every single business he has tried to start).

The value gained in trade agreements between nations, often far far greater than anything of a real monetary value, is vastly more complex than anything Trump could possibly comprehend, let alone the poorly educated that seem to fundamentally believe that Trump is a smart human that is, for some reason, acting on their behalf.

By your theory he is 100% legal for the president to have everyone who could impeach him killed because to arrest and indict him for it would be unconstitutional.

It's obviously very early but the map I looked at looks pretty brutal for Democrats. I can see maybe getting ME but a lot of the states with seats up for grabs are what I consider solid red territory. If we had a candidate as electrifying as Obama was then I could see it, but absent that...I wouldn't count on it.
