What do you mean fuck the future? Often taking on debt improves future outcomes instead of makes them worse.

Regardless, a common misconception is that personal finances and sovereign finances are the same or even similar. They aren’t.

With Trump and his total lack of morals and ethics leading the way, his followers have had to mimic him in every disgusting vile way as a show of support for his stable genius, his creating a "thriving economy" based exclusively on the performance of the Stock Market and how well the very rich are doing while ignoring the millions of the starving and the destitute and oh yeah, his overwhelming popularity with those other dictators of the world.

WhataboutTrump is on equal footing with WhataboutRepubs who enabled and encouraged that lying prick to do his absolute worst at presidenting and his very best at dismantling the foundations of our democracy.
 
Every admin since Reagan promoted a combination of neoconservatism and neoliberalism, leading to military intervention and dirty tricks in other countries (and leading to large numbers of civilians dead) and deregulation to favor the rich, from tax breaks to bailouts.

The actions involved not just the President but several cabinet officials, heads of agencies, legislators, etc. Several of them worked across several admins.

Behind all that is a Wall Street that needs the petrodollar propped up through perpetual warfare, which controls the Fed (essentially, a private consortium of commercial banks), and funds much of the economy and the defense industry (which, as early as the 1950s, Eisenhower argued is part of a military industrial complex).

Anyone who thinks that what's been happening involves only one person is incredibly naive.
