But he did receive 100k less votes than McCain (someone many Republicans disliked and considered a RINO), and 160k less votes than Dubya. Further, you had very large turnout for an independent candidate (albeit a hometown boy and Mormon) which is pretty unusual. I won't say it's completely a religious values thing, but they're a very ideologically conservative state, and Trump clearly doesn't represent their beliefs very well.

There are outsiders. There are lots of professors in the country with excellent credentials in various fields, many people in public positions (heads of education of various states and school districts and etc) and private positions, as well as members of both parties that are relatively small fry.

I honestly would just look for people who are currently getting it done compared to their peers, regardless of ideology. No one he has selected to this point really has an A+ resume, someone who is totally head and shoulders above the rest and is nailing it. Everyone is so sketchy. I just don't understand it. Ben Carson for HUD? Can't he find a single housing director of a city someplace that is currently nailing it and promote that guy?
