Well of course, governing by 'pen and phone' was a last ditch resort after literally years of attempting to get Republicans to engage constructively. Even while he was doing it Obama repeatedly said how he would have rather worked with the opposition to enact real laws but unfortunately they weren't interested. I mean exactly this situation would have been avoided by passing the comprehensive immigration reform both Obama and a bipartisan group in the Senate agreed on. House Republicans refused to even debate it or bring it to a vote.

Last I checked Republicans control the government, so you'll have to talk to them about government paid health-care. I am sure they'll get on it ASAP. Until then, get in the fields, and start picking.

Their wages are somewhere between $10,000 and $15,000 per year. Annualized to a 40 hour work week that's less than $5 an hour, which is less than any American makes after taxes. Considering tax credits and such, much less. In addition, undocumented immigrants get 'free' education the same way any poor person gets 'free' education. They do not qualify for 'free' health care the same way citizens do, in fact it's the exact opposite so your other point is just factually incorrect.

Where on earth did you get all this nonsense into your head?

Sure, the ones who are against DACA probably care more than the ones who are for it. But elections turn on very narrow margins. If you just look at last year's election and assume that all other factors are equal, an unpopular policy - or combinatioin of several unpopular policies - would only need to sway about 1% or less of voters to flip that outcome. And this is only one of several "broadly" unpopular policies of this administration and of the GOP. Their healthcare bill was polling lower than 20%. We don't need mass defections of republicans to win elections. A small number of moderate republicans or Trump voting independents is enough.

What I find amusing is these idiots don't appear to realize that all the wonderful benefits of being an undocumented immigrant are available to them. Want to work without giving your social security number! Easy, just work a job that doesn't require I-9 verification like undocumented immigrants do and be done with it! No taxes then either. Want all that 'free' stuff undocumented immigrants get? That's available too, just go to the same clinics they have to.

It's just like people complaining about how great the poor have it. That lifestyle is 100% attainable by everyone if they want it. Of course they wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole because it's horrible but this way they have something to whine about.

We don't have a sane President, at least not one recognizable as such. It therefore falls to Congress to act. A lot of Repub Politicos are cornered by their own divisive rhetoric in the past. They've cultivated & preyed on White Fear for decades in order to pursue the top down economic warfare of trickle down economics. It's the same for all their issues. They don't actually want to solve any of them because ordinary Americans wouldn't have any reason to vote for them if they did.

Regardless, any Republicans who are lamenting us being in this situation because Obama 'used the pen' should know that this was entirely avoidable if the Republicans in the House had decided to make an attempt at governing. It's both funny and scary to see Republicans flailing as they are actually forced to govern as they have no experience in attempting to do so.

EDIT: To be clear, Republicans certainly aren't alone in bottling up bills but in this case their decision to be obstructionists directly led to this situation. You reap what you sow.

I think Trump was the most unpopular candidate to win the US presidency. The GOP doing unpopular things does not cost them elections. One just won a house race after assaulting a reporter. We can argue about why that is, but I think it's hard to dispute at this point.

So ... my brother's fiancee has been in the US since she was 1 year old.
Her family came illegally.

She is a university student, has good grades, in lots of programs and clubs, works, and generally, is one of the most productive and respectable Americans I have ever met. But, now she is supposedly going to be forcibly deported because she is "illegal" ....

The sewer rat in the white house is a fucking disaster.

A significant majority of Republicans want DACA to remain in place, so ... yes it was entirely avoidable if Republican congressmen were capable of doing fuck all besides whining, obstructing and pandering to their base.
