Interestingly enough Trump’s prior nomination appears to have been fraudulent, which is the most Trump thing ever, haha.

That's pcgeeks guy right there, flagrantly dishonest for even the most trivial of items

I don't think much of the Nobel Prize. It has become more of something akin to a Grammy or Oscar award. I was just surprised that no one had mentioned it yet.

Hell they may as well give it to him, he's done as much or more than some that have gotten the award.

Good Lord, something we agree on. I've never thought much of the Nobel Peace Prize (as opposed to the Nobel prizes for specific academic categories,). I mean, just look at the ignoble list of previous winners. Obama was maybe the least bad of them, in getting it for not actually doing anything at all.

The usual route is to be a complete bastard for decades, and then suddenly 'see the light' when old and past-it, just before retirement, and step down from your despotic or terrorist role and hug your (probably equally bad) opponent.

Aung San Suu Kyi is a weird exception, having done it more the other way round.

It's another one of his attempts to equate Trump's flaws with everyone else especially Obama.

Trump lie count is > 20,000 yet he will claim "they all lie" or "if you like your doctor" Now we have the biggest lie that has cost the lives of 10's of thousands of American citizens. He'll just excuse that as no worse then others

I’ll give our useful idiot some credit the Israel UAE deal certainly isn’t bad news for anyone.
Not sure by what criteria makes something Nobel worthy.

I find that it is odd nobody seems to be discussing this in the forums. Not even a peep that I see.
I don't think that he will get the prize deserving or not.

Strange times.

I was looking for the subject to come up and all the hate and venom to start spewing about how undeserving he is.

Getting Israel and the UAE to open up and start having a normal relationship to one another is a good step.

Now will it last?

I have my doubts.

I suspect it was largely because we know he won't get the award, and there's no doubting that he doesn't deserve it.

The UAE effort is nice, but it doesn't change that Trump's administration has been objectively, unambiguously defined by sowing division and hatred. It's pretty hard to award a Nobel Peace Prize to someone who had peaceful protesters violently dispersed so he could hold a Bible in front of a church as a publicity stunt.

Basically: you'd have to be a hard-in-the-paint Trump drone to think Trump deserves the award.

The point is I feel that the award doesn't mean much either way.

As far as accomplishments to justify getting the award, he is deserving as many that have gotten it. Just based on the recent advancement in relationships between Israel and UAE and Israel and Bahrain.

I was reading my news feed and saw he was nominated twice and was wondering why it wasn't a topic on Anandtech yet.
Its been a topic many times, just not in context of the Nobel.

Hell, if he doesn't win an actual No-balls Prize...he can just fake one like he did with his Time Magazine "Man of the Year" covers...

Trump should be nominated for the Nobble Peace Prize. I’d vote for that.

I don't think Trump would know what the acronym UAE means or could find it on a map. I really don't think Trump or the USA had much sway in this agreement. This type of thing was in the works for a while. It probably wouldn’t have happened if there wasn’t already broad agreement. I’m sure the Saudis said yes in private. As I understand it, the treaty is mainly to block out Iran. It’s in their best interest to keep Iran isolated. And not get a foothold in an area next to Israel.

I do think this is an important step. Any movement in this area of the world towards some sort of peace is a good thing. Bahrain has just signed on and Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Oman are interested.

The Saudis let an Israeli plane fly through their airspace to the UAE. They also started regular flights from Tel Aviv to Saudi and stopped any efforts at sanctions, which is also significant.

However, it all seems to hinge on Israel’s annexation plans for the West Bank. The news reported Israel took that off the table, which allowed this deal to go forward, but Netanyahu was shown later saying it was not off the table, just “paused”. Maybe he had to say that publicly to appease the hard-liners at home, and has no intention of pursuing that plan any time soon. But still, seems like a delicate agreement.

That is not an answer.

Coming from the guy who responded with this:

Hell they may as well give it to him, he's done as much or more than some that have gotten the award.

You might just want to lower the bar for what you think a useful answer looks like. Or up your game of course.

Talk about creating a thread with a "I don't really care, do you?" jacket on.

Something would seem off about awarding a Peace Prize to someone who jumpstarted another nuclear arms race just to feel better about himself.

If we’re really going to honor the short-term achievements of the Israel-UAE-Bahrain-partly Saudi peace deal, shouldn’t Kushner get the credit??

Forged nominations: Doesn't Trump have a history of this, something related to Forbes IIRC? I seem to remember a news article about Trump using pseudonyms and trying to convince a reporter that he should be in some 'richest' list.

Imagine awarding Donald Trump an award for bring people together for the sake of peace.

What I find far more hilarious is that the Trump administration is so amazingly stupid that they'd try to claim that Trump has achieved peace in the Middle East. I mean, what next, he fixed Climate Change, then won the latest Mr World contest?

MIGA. The only thing trump has been able to do. He's a traitor to America tho.

He didn't actually do it though. It's been an open secret for a decade or so that UAE and Israel have been dealing together, they just came out of the closet at Trump's pleading. They did balk however, at naming the accord after Trump-probably worried they would have to pay him royalties.

I posted about it in the Donald Trump thread so clearly you didn't look very hard. then again that seems to be a common problem around here. see that's the benefit of mega threats everybody knows where to go to have the discussion rather than having it in four different threads.

The fact the same person promoted violence amongst his own citizens kinda mitigates any justification for the award.

Maybe that's why nobody mentioned. Can't keep doing heinous shit and get a peace prize. Forget for a minute if he did anything that would quality.

Hitler probably wouldn't have won Dog Lover of the Year 1932. I'm surprise even people like you didn't realize this

Other despicable acts that came out this week but we just can't keep up

Bragged about saving MBS from scrutiny in the Khashoggi assassination
Skimmed money from the 9/11 medical fund

Do arsonists deserve Architect of the Year Award?
Do rapists deserve Women's Right Advocate of the Year Award?

What does that say about you, crowing about a guy who has done things like this?

No crowing here.

Pull your panties out of your crack. LOL

Well this thread went exactly like expected. I for one think it's pretty cool whenever a President gets nominated for the Prize and even more exciting when one actually wins one.

The petty insults and partisan bullshit in this forum gets old. The first reply in calls the award into question by bringing up Obama and then the rest of the thread dumps on Trump and the OP.......sigh......

Where did he nominate himself?

I must have missed that part. From what I read it was from Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament.

That’s just your opinion.

It is.

It's another one of his attempts to equate Trump's flaws with everyone else especially Obama.

I never brought up Obama in this thread.

And the odds of Trump getting a Nobel Prize are slim and none.

But as I expected you guys do not disappoint on the venom and vitriol.

Personally I always make sure to nominate the peace prize ironically to the one who starts the most wars....

Remind me, who was that again?
