News Trump: Mar-a-Lago just raided by FBI

In this current fiasco I feel like the Raid was over the top and it could have been handled better (the documents could have been retrieved without all the drama). The rest has been proper as far as I can tell. The documents received needs to be sorted out as to what is what. All we have so far is rumors and hearsay. I do believe at a minimum he is guilty of improper handling of classified documents. I do not believe Trump packed any paperwork, I feel certain that his aides etc packed the boxes. That being said Trump is in charge and the buck stops with him.

In this forum some are ready to hang him on the White House lawn for Treason or violations of the Espionage Act. Which is asinine based on the little factual information we as the public knows at this point.

As to the bolded, what exactly would that look like?

You are clearly deluded and willfully in denial.

If you had paid attention you would realize that the JD did try to regain the documents with almost no attention, i.e. in June. At that time a Trump lawyer, in writing, asserted that Trump retained at Mar-a-lago no classified information. JD had reason to believe that wasn't so. So, they got a warrant (judge determined there was probably cause) and they served that as low key as possible but Trump blew his own cover and announced to all and sundry that the FBI had come and gotten myriad documents commensurate with the warrant and, after Garland successfully had the warrant and resulting document retrieval known (GOP big wigs all over the country HAD DEMANDED THAT) that indeed there were lots of classified documents including very high level ones that not only Trump had never declassified, that he would not have declassified, it was not, never was in his power to do so.

This seems to be another case where conservatives say something like 'it all would have been fine if Democrats had just done X' without realizing that X is exactly what Democrats did. Happened under Obama constantly where conservatives and centrists would talk about how Obama should adopt policies he already held.

The DOJ asked Trump for the documents back. Trump then proceeded to keep some of them and lie to the DOJ about it. So, when a person is in possession of highly sensitive documents for a year and a half, is not securing them properly and is lying to you about what they have what do you do?

This linked story in today's New York Times has a comments section, which is not yet "closed." I read several of the "Readers Picks" and this one is an absolute standout. 😳😵😡

A couple of times I’ve worked in WH jobs that required a security clearance. Jobs that required me to occasionally review secret and, narrowly defined, top secret documents. Every time I had to review these types of documents, it was in a secure room. A “SKIF”, a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility. When I was in the SCIF reviewing documents, I was being filmed and monitored. Before I entered I had to leave my cell phone and was scanned for other items. If I made notes, I had to leave them in a burn bag or submit them for review. No confidential or secret information could leave the SCIF except in my brain. I was scanned again when leaving the SCIF. I directly observed secret documents being brought to the President. They were carefully monitored and they were always returned. My point is, for Trump to take classified documents, to have them in his control over some time, to then be able to remove them from the WH, he must have had willing collaborators. Collaborators who helped him evade the very well established security procedures in the White House and the Executive Office Building. It’s impossible to just walk out with secret documents. They’re tracked meticulously. It’s known immediately if they’re missing. Trump could not have pulled this off on his own. Logs had to have been doctored and other sophisticated evasive measure taken. There also had to be a purpose that made the risks worthwhile. Monetization of our secrets is the only thing that makes sense.
I want to see the WH log of classified documents checked in and checked out. If one doesn't exist who ever got the docs to Trump is in trouble.

They tried that with a subpoena and Trump lied about returning all the documents.
While I may frequently disagree with him, I don't think he's a troll, I believe he does believe the things he posts and isn't saying them just to stir the pot (the typical definition of a troll).
It's been repeated how many times in this thread about the documented prior subpoena and Trump's non-compliance. @pcgeek11 still refuses to even ackowledge it as a possibility, much less hard fact. How is that not trolling? Even if he was dishonest and idiotic (hint: he's both), he'd have to be trolling to just endlessly ignore this fact.

He can go fuck himself sideways. Or eat the front end of a bus moving at high speed.

If it bothers you so much Maybe you should partake of the Ignore feature. Then you could stop wasting your energy and calling people that disagree with you names because you have nothing else.
Oh you were ignored long ago, but when you continually lie through your teeth and misrepresent everything you discuss, other people quote you and respond, so I still get to see all the dumb shit you claim.

Before you accuse anyone of "having nothing else", maybe demonstrate that you offer anything of value, which you never have. 🙄

THE FBI PLANTED DOCUMENTS to frame Trump! And now he has come out and said he wants to do whatever he can to assist the FBI here because he knows some documents do exist. And hopefully he can help stop the threats against the FBI and other government officials. And together they can curb any potential violence.

He's such a great man he's pushing him being persecuted to the side and helping the people trying to frame him and ruin his life all for the good of the country!

The definition of Make America Great Again!

TRUMP 2024!

[a summary of what I just read on Twitter during my lunch break]

I love his followers ability to deflect from "shit was planted!" to "well there are documents, but Trump is being helpful because he has nothing to hide" So apparently some of them are smart enough to realize the FBI planting shit sounds like a bad action movie plot. But they're still in denial about him being a crook. "yeah, I mean he accidentally took some boxes with him when he left the WH, hay it happens..."

And as for Trump ignoring the subpoena, we're making a mountain out of a molehill here. As one Twitter MAGA lady explained comparing it to a normal American not responding to a jury duty summons. It could have just been an oversight, or the subpoena got lost in the mail or something.

Nonsense. Everybody knows that he lies about EVERYTHING and that was a straight up lie.

Claiming he declassified anything without having proof is straight up bullshit. He knows it, everybody who was in the WH knows it, the Supremes know it, Garland and the whole JD know it and all Trump's lawyers know it. The only people who don't know it are the people who have been sucking shit out of Trump's ass, and that's who Trump was hoping to influence. He didn't take those documents, he stole them and he couldn't have done it without collaborators and hopefully they will be prosecuted as well as TFP.
Funny how when he was the first to announce the "raid" that excuse was not ready for this public announcement.

I'm a republican and I would like to see All lawbreaker punished IAW the law with due process. I think most republicans feel this way in my experience. Nothing is absolute however.

Politicians are an entirely different subject as they are all out for themselves Dems and Reps.
Take off the blinders and you will discover that you knew absolutely nothing.

I used to do rotation on making sure the classified documents safe was locked at the end of the day, when I was working on Electronic Tech manuals in the Documentation dept. when I did a 2.5 year stint at the home office in Anaheim. If you've never worked with classified materials, you really have no clue.

I can't get over the sweetest words I ever heard, of late.
TRUMP - ESPIONAGE
ESPIONAGE - TRUMP

Aw.... ESPIONAGE. Remember ESPIONAGE? Remember those found guilty of ESPIONAGE, and their fate?

I really want to know which passports were confiscated and why. If the FBI purposefully seized Trump's everyday blue passport... yeah, they consider him a flight risk.

If he was still holding on to his government issued passport, they could yank it from him anytime they wanted. They are a bit different than the normal private passports and technically are only supposed to be used if you are doing government business. As a private contractor, I got reimbursed for the one I needed to go to Faslane Scotland to do facility inspections.
