News Trump: Mar-a-Lago just raided by FBI

In this current fiasco I feel like the Raid was over the top and it could have been handled better (the documents could have been retrieved without all the drama). The rest has been proper as far as I can tell. The documents received needs to be sorted out as to what is what. All we have so far is rumors and hearsay. I do believe at a minimum he is guilty of improper handling of classified documents. I do not believe Trump packed any paperwork, I feel certain that his aides etc packed the boxes. That being said Trump is in charge and the buck stops with him.

In this forum some are ready to hang him on the White House lawn for Treason or violations of the Espionage Act. Which is asinine based on the little factual information we as the public knows at this point.
Oh, something like a subpoena asking for the documents?

It's a good thing your brain stem is in control of your breathing, for you're too fucking stupid to do that on your own.

Although the President has the right to declassify just pronouncing "I hereby declassify all documents" does not do the job. There is a process and there is no evidence that was followed

Trump's lawyer signed a legal document claiming there are no more classified documents at Mar-a-Lago and the FBI found some when executing the warrant.

MY understanding...and gawd I hope I'm wrong...is that while there is a process that has to be followed for MOST people, the president and vice-president are exempt from that. Apparently SOME things even the president can't declassify...nuclear stuff. Also, it seems like if Trump waved his magic wand and declassified "everything," Biden could wave HIS magic wand and reclassify those things. (although, I believe it would have to be pretty much document by document)

No, there is a process that has to be followed because logically speaking and from a sheer practicality stand point, the rest of the federal government has to be made aware of what has been declassified in order to function properly. An example I heard was with regards to FOIA requests, if someone makes a request how would the particular agency know whether or not something is classified and if they are able to give out whatever information is being requested. We would be at a stand still with regards to sensitive information and trying to figure out what can or cannot be released.

He wants his loot back:

😀
This guy lives in an alternate reality. It is unfathomable that this guy became POTUS. The Republican Party has become a joke, nothing more.
In a post on Sunday, the former president wrote: “By copy of this Truth, I respectfully request that these documents be immediately returned to the location from which they were taken. Thank you!”
Is he not certifiably insane?

You know, you're full of shit on this and you shouldn't post your pipe dreams when you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. The POTUS and Vice POTUS are not in the least exempt from the requirements involving classified materials. Get a fucking clue.

So were they just recovering stolen documents, or is there more?

There's info in the affidavit they don't want revealed because it would jeopardize their ability to conduct this and other investigations such as the names of witnesses who are cooperating, helping to determine the facts. If they are identified in some cases at least they will be reticent to be so forthcoming. Anonymous FBI agents are being threatened with death. What do you think would happen if individuals' identities became known who testify, depose info damaging to the reputation of the cult orange monster and his monstrosity of an administration?

That's just the spin I heard on network TV yesterday. There may be other things the DOJ doesn't want revealed and for good reason. I didn't think there would be controversy about this. I heard that NY Times and probably others requested publication of the affidavit. It's up to the judge. I don't expect he will rule in favor.

Committees in Congress with clearance want to see the affidavit but what about the MAGA’s in those committees, Would they spill the info to trump?

There is nothing funny about people killing themselves. The funny part is your feeble attempt to blame it on Fox News.

People with Mental issues are going to do things like this. As far as we know the reasons for the suicide is unknown. Maybe he rammed the barrier in protest of Biden....

I don't know what the second suicide you are alluding to other than possibly being the guy that was killed for attacking the FBI Office with a nail gun. I think he was killed by the FBI or Police and not a suicide.
Your hot take:

Yeah, the identities of informants should be protected. It's obviously not easy handling these issues. The USA screwed up badly when they let the orange monkey into the White House.

But our insurrectionists are more polite. But potentially even more dumb to follow someone declaring themselves to be Queen of the Kingdom of Canada.
Wackos in N. America not restricted to USA. Is there a Mexican version? I haven't heard of any. In Mexico it's the cartels and gangs who carry the banner for the insane AFAIK.

Per some news reporting I heard, a President can’t simply wave a magic wand to keep the documents, if a President did so or had a standing order to do so then the press or you or I could submit a freedom of information request to see the documents.
To my amateur understanding the key points are this data belongs to the people even though we may not be able to see it at this time. The President has the right to see whatever classified stuff they choose and they can even choose where they want to see that data. There is only one President at any given time, once a President become “former President” they need to request documents to view and keep. Most trivial secret stuff will be approved to be kept the example give was if the Queen of England writes a thank you note regarding a visit or likely the bromance note from King Jong Fat Boy. This stuff is easy to keep a copy of and possible the original. They do need to be requested.
Super secret stuff is a much harder to keep a copy of.
When a President leaves office they need to declare what secret stuff they have and they need to return it when requested. However the President is used to living a pampered life with no rules applied to him. He believes in what @brandonbull likes to say “too good for thee but perfectly fine for me”
