Agree - it's kind of nuts just how lenient the FBI was with Trump considering the stakes involved. If you or I had that kind of super highly classified information and when it was requested back we said 'no' we would be greeted with guns in our faces I imagine. Yet still despite EXTREME levels of restraint conservatives are still complaining Trump was treated too harshly.

Agree.

I imagine the FBI agents, having just taken stock of a unprecedented crime in both nature and scope, would’ve been more circumspect. But who the hell knows. As with so many, if not all things in TrumpWorld, it’s completely impossible to even guess.

FBI agent - “Thank you Mr Trump. You, uh, you did NOT need to show us the storage room, but (snicker!) we appreciate it. Now it ALL makes sense (meaningful one eyed glance at another agent)." I can see them doing it totally stone-faced, then breaking down in the car in laughter.
What the fuck does that even mean? Is the claim supposed to be that the FBI knew Trump was in illegal possession of highly classified documents but once they saw how super securely he was holding them they decided it was fine?

Yes, it seems the FBI did everything pcgeek wanted and more. Sending agents to seize the documents was clearly something they tried very hard to avoid. Looks like they did it only when Trump made it clear that he had no intention of ever returning them.

If anything considering the sensitivity of the documents Trump should be thanking them for not breaking down his door.
Don't worry, he will come up with more excuses for the criminal racist dirtbag for whom he voted.

Letter from national archives to Trump back in May that said basically 3 things

1. You have highly classified documents
2. You have no right to an executive privilege claim and the NA is not granting your request
3. We want our shit back and are referring this to the FBI for ongoing criminal probe

The NA first contacted Trump back in April

But...it was Trump's documents!

Trump tells attorneys: Get 'my' classified documents back from the DOJ (msn.com)

I keep asking the same question on the Fox FB page. Who owns the documents, Trump or the American people?

When I refer them to the PRA I usually get silence.

One person tried to tell me it's joint ownership. Again I refer to the PRA and tell him Trump took docs that didn't belong to him. He comes back with "still wasn't illegal"

Trump was right about shooting someone on 5th Ave. However, I didn't know his people would claim attempted murder isn't against the law.

Things like this show why Trump was so insanely dangerous to have as president and why he should have been removed from office on multiple occasions.

it’s legal for people without security clearances to possess highly classified documents? TIL.

If anything, they were negligent in waiting so long to get unsecured "holiest of the hollies" classified data. The damage assessment is going to be fun.

I’m really curious to know what’s in the affidavit that prompted them to raid MAL. Who informed them…of what? What did they see on earlier surveillance footage that has them scrambling to see more?

Also, maybe this is just a coincidence, but why did the raid happen so soon after the Saudi LIV tournament at Trump’s club in Bedminster?

What's nuts to me is how nonchalant Trump was knowing what the FBI was after. I know Trump's not the brightest bulb. But the FBI couldn't contact any other criminal "hay, we need the illegal documents you're in possession of back, k-thx!" without the documents being demolished. Trump knew what they were after and no mad dash to destroy evidence, no nothing. To me this proves he really does believe he can declassify anything or is just above the law. His stupidy far surpasses even the low bar I had set for him. After his 4 years in office, I never thought he could do anything to make me scratch my head in amazement. But he proved me wrong.

He’s gotten away with so much already. So he’s willing to push the bar further. If the Repugican party wasn’t so useless and actually held him accountable, wouldn’t still be dealing with this worthless scum.

You've got to believe that whoever's ass is on the line for checking out those documents, because I'm sure Trump never sign's for anything, is spilling their guts out. Why on earth would they risk taking the wrap for his fat ass. So the FBI has already got their testimony. Stick a fork in his ass.

No more than yours with all of your ranting and cursing about people that don't follow your ideals.
I believe that a person like yourself who can easily see the double standards partisans apply to others, can’t be totally unaware of it within himself. That is why I suggested to watch for a goal post movement as more details have emerged on the search.

I believe they subpoenaed surveillance tapes from MAL and saw people moving the boxes and putting docs in different boxes in & out of the ‘secure’ room.

The lawyers have to be in jeopardy of something. They did state shortly before the raid that Mar-a-Lardo did not have any secret documents on premises.
I’m no legal expert but I’d think that would carry consequences if there were.

They’ll blame trump or if they really are part of his cult they’ll take the blame.

"I was lied to by Mr. Trump" wouldn't pass a smell test. No reasonable person would think Trump ever tells the truth.

I am thinking they would have Mr Trump sign something saying “you certify that there are no secrete papers at Mar-a-Lardo as of this date”
