It's a sham ruling though, because she pushed back the schedule on the CIPA stuff which will in effect also push back the trial as well.

So it looks like she's being reasonable on the surface, but the result will still be a delay of considerable proportions.

Which also impacts GA/other cases as they now can't push forward as if she had just delayed in full. Scummy/sleazy move TBH.

Defendant must be present in criminal cases. By holding that May date (even though everyone knows it's not possible), it effectively prevents other jurisdictions that aren't slow rolling the proceedings from starting earlier.

IIRC criminal defendants have no Constitutional right to a bench trial. They can waive their right to a jury trial, but if the prosecution wants a jury trial, then it goes to a jury.
