How surprising, Trump is using a registered agent for a foreign government (Venezuela) as his attorney. Only surprising part is that they actually registered (and it wasn't Russia...)!

And Judge ("Loose") Cannon ordered the DoJ to give these attorneys access to the top secret government documents during special master review...
There's nothing inherently wrong with being a registered agent of a foreign power, just means you're doing some politically connected work for them. I agree it's a bad look though.

WTF??? Segment right now on CNN. DOJ filing. Wish to use a 3rd party vendor to scan in the documents for the judge to review. Like huh??? Shouldn’t the judge be required to goto FBI office where these documents are? And DOJ wants contempt charges if there are any leaks of these documents.

I know absolutely nothing about nothing but if these are as sensitive as described, about the only option the DOJ should provide is:

These will be in a SCIF at the Capitol. If you want to review them, you can come here and follow all appropriate protocols. Nothing will be removed or reproduced. Otherwise, fuck right off.

If this judge allows unauthorized people to see these documents the DOJ should just ignore her or charge her. There is no legitimate reason for that outside of blind corruption towards the GOP or being in an the espionage.

Doesn't the state have jurisdiction over the feds since it is in a Florida county? Or is there more to it than that? I only know what they show in movies :p I ask because I would have thought given what is going on, the feds would be stomping and ignoring everything that judge says since it's a federal issue.

Only if it was state level crimes, that where committed only in Florida. Since Trump's crimes, specifically the stealing of FEDERAL documents, span at least two different locations (Washington DC, and Florida), the theft was committed on Federal grounds, the crime was against the federal government/United States of America, as well as the fact that they are all federal documents, the state has no jurisdiction what so ever. All the state can do is sit back, pop some popcorn and watch. Which is why as Zorba pointed out, it's a federal judge.

It's in this article (also notice the title, that the Trump team is trying to side step or not have to immediately disclose the claimed declassification of documents, and the reasoning screams "we need a list of which documents, so we can make up the evidence that supports their declassification and/or they don't' want to give evidence by admitting which documents where not declassified, showing Trump's guilt. The case should be thrown out of court if they can't produce such declassification evidence before hand.):

In order for both the Trump team and prosecutors to evaluate evidence at the same time, prosecutors suggested in the filing that the documents be uploaded to a third-party online platform.
The Justice Department suggested that the third-party vendor “batch out” documents on a rolling basis as they are scanned to both prosecutors and Trump’s defense team. The lawyers should plan to sort through about 500 documents every business day, DOJ said.

With all of these secret documents flying around willy nilly, don't be surprised if you find a classified document in your mailbox. I opened a box of Lucky Charms cereal and surprise surprise, a classified government document. THAT, and a plastic batman ring. They're both magically delicious.

Seriously, how can we process all this insanity? Nothing makes any sense anymore. We have a corrupt x-president along with his corrupt lawyers AND a corrupt Trump appointed judge actually dictating TO THE FBI for gods sake on how this will work. Dictating who it will be calling the shots.
I say F*** it all.... lets just turn the Whitehouse over to Putin with all of America's secrets and be done with it.

Face it folks... Donald Trump killed American democracy. I want to see a state funeral for the demise of American democracy with the same fanfare as that given the Queen. We deserve it.

I think DoJ is assuming that none of the classified documents will be included in this activity (per their 11th Circuit pending appeal), and if confidential info is excluded, this generally makes sense to expedite review of a large amount of files amongst 3+ parties (including special master, feds, and Trumpites).

Public hearing with the special master tomorrow:

I am really thinking right now Trump's lawyers are realizing they made a mistake picking this guy.

I figure that one the docs are already burned and actions have been taken and two they want to do this as fast as humanly possible.

Another filing. The government has failed to prove the documents are classified.

> _ <
lol. What would that even mean?

This is a genuine question - how would the government prove a document is classified other than saying they made a determination it is classified? You can't show people the things in it that are classified to prove it, that's the whole point!

And beyond that, the executive is who determines what is classified. If they say it's classified, it's classified.
