Nuclear or not, if Trump possessed top secret docs he should face penalties. If he had some and they are now missing (re: the empty folders) he should be responsible for that. Just like any other private citizen.

His legal team of course will be fighting to delay any trial until the GOP is back in power, they know all this will be wiped away. THAT is the thing to fear here...well, that and this unqualified judge with severe conflict of interest that is already showing that she is inept (or in team Trump's pocket). The 11th circuit (iirc where appeals go) is packed with Trump appointees too.

If Trump gets a fair trial and isn't found guilty so be it. The problem is that he may not get a "fair" trial, he might skate due to judges that support him and a shitty system that lets Presidents pardon anyone they want, for anything.

Again the question to ask is: where would any of us be after those docs were found in our house? Being questioned in a tiled room most likely. Instead Trump is "golfing" (or whatever that mafia style meeting on the golf course was....)

And if you could find an honest "Conservative" (look under any unicorns you encounter), ask them how they'd feel if the FBI found these docs at Pelosi's place, after giving her months of notice to turn them back in. I'm sure it would be "why are they pestering her at her private place", right?

If he possessed GOVT documents, he should face penalties. Period.

If he possessed TS/SCI docs, lied about them, moved them, hid them, he should be charged under the espionage act.

Before I even start I am going to say that if a Mod decides I need a timeout for what I am about to say I won't fight it but this is not a call to violence of any kind just a realistic view of the situation and a safe bet with what I know about TS/SCI classifications. Please have mercy on me.

If I was guilty of having even a few of the secrets that Trump had at MAL I would have been tortured for all information I know, who I was working with, and then executed by a shot to the back of the head. I wouldn't even expect a military tribunal much less a criminal civilian court trial because I wouldn't deserve a trial.

Well, that's certainly NOT a realistic view of the situation and if you think that is a safe bet with what you know about classifications, you really need to reevaluate your knowledge depth. There aren't enough  :rolleyes: to cover your conclusion of torture and death.

don’t agree but fair enough. What type of “secret” information would be considered a no go, nobody should have them hanging around your house or golf club?
Being a little vague is fine, I am interested in what is considered non negotiable stuff that should be in the former Presidents hands.
Anything that actually affects the security of the nation, or could put lives in danger.

I'm exactly what's wanted in a juror because I'm only interested in what can be proven. Hearsay, speculation, and what I want to believe don't enter the equation.

your history of bias makes this a false assertion.

Don’t forget to don that adorable deplorable tshirt to seal the deal.

Hmm, today is the DoJ deadline given to Cannon to grant them relief to continue FBI investigation on the confidential files misappropriated by Trump, but no news yet.

Cannon was quick to review and propose granting Trump relief on a Saturday - immediately after the Friday night Trump filing; but no movement on the simple government request for her to actually follow the law - after now a week of inaction.

DOJ should use their free time to investigate her connections with Trump...

It's already been proven, Trump as admitted having such documents, but has claimed he declassified them, he owns them.. blah blah blah... Yet, you sit here and ignore it, and tell us you would be exactly the juror because you are only interested in what can be proven.. How can you even type that without shrinking in your seat knowing it's a straight up lie?

Haha of course. The thing is this is a very, very simple matter. It doesn't matter if the documents were classified or not. The only questions that have to be answered here are:

1) Were those records government property?
2) If so, was Trump authorized to possess them?
3) If not, is there some way he didn't realize he had them?

I don't see how anyone can look at the voluminous available evidence and answer any of those in Trump's favor.

Hillary probably stole those documents and had her people plant them right before the raid.
The main issue with that is the National Archives notified Trump of these documents several times and he refused to return them so even if they were initially planted by Hillary's Email Server come to life I think he's still screwed.

... But not entered as evidence in a trial YET. So totally not doing illegal things until it is proven during a trial.

Man it must be really hard to resolve that someone is innocent regardless of mounds of proof and yet at the same time claim that border crossers are Illegal Immigrants before there is some sort of trial. I mean it's right there in the name!

It is almost as if they are not being genuine with their arguments. It would suck to be so mentally broken.

How do you know the document wasn't in Mar-a-Lago before Biden took charge?

All we know right now is that it was found somewhere it shouldn't have been. We don't know when it got there. The *assumption* is it arrived in the post-election White House clearout.
It's like he thinks that people classify stuff just for fun, and the special master will figure this out for him. That most of it is just silly stuff.

Trump testifying in a criminal trial would be just delicious for the prosecution. Despite the necessity of his testimony for some defences I can’t see any lawyer relishing putting him on the stand.

This is not about hearsay and speculation. This thread is the court of public opinion for the case:

Donald J. Trump versus The United States of America (actual name of the case).

It is not a court of law. It has legitimacy. The facts are out there and they're being discussed here. Clearly what you "want to believe" has everything to do with what you have been saying here.
