I'd think Biden would have ordered all nuclear weapons relocated Jan 21, 2021. And I really think the intelligence community shared the bare minimum. Basic overview without giving specifics in briefings.

Yeah, they did limit as much as possible. But you can't just change everything that he was in on and he'd have to know some things that we really don't want getting out.

He's easily the biggest single CI threat we've ever had.

It’s interesting to see how Barr has changed his position over the last year or so. A year ago he said he would vote for Trump over a Democrat if Trump got the nomination. Now he says he will make that decision when it comes to that.

Maybe he still votes for Trump in that situation but for a lifelong hyper partisan like Barr to be even thinking otherwise says something.
He may look in the mirror one day and see Trump's footprint on his neck.

Barr is slime. When he had power to do the right thing, he didn't. Now he wants to sound reasonable for whatever reason when he has no power? Screw him. Nobody should be giving one shit for anything he's got to say. I know Conservatives don't care, so why should anyone else?

As far as a deal for Trump cases to be dropped in exchange for no running for office--the problem I have with that is that it *really* looks political then. While the practical outcome would be great--as long as the 8 years are actually enforced--that comes off as looking like "yep the whole thing was a big scheme to get him not to run" which is exactly what he's been bleating. Especially if you lump all of them together.

As an aside I'm getting a bit annoyed at all these "Jack Smith, the man who might take down Trump" headlines. Bullshit, the man taking down Trump is Trump. Jack Smith is (hopefully) doing his job. That takes bravery enough, he's no doubt in danger for his life and probably will be for many years. I'm glad Jack Smith and team so far seem very competent. But this isn't Luke vs the Emperor. It's not what Trump is also bleating, that it's a personal vendetta to get him (like everything always is, holy projection batman.) It's about a crooked old fraud who broke MANY laws over many years in the stupidest way possible, leaving a shit-ton of evidence, and it's long past time he pays for it, like any of us would have a long time ago.

Would any of you take this deal if Trump is convicted and is heading for prison?

Biden grants Trump a pardon.

Dems get the following...
Mandatory SCOTUS ethics reform. Same rules as all other federal judges.
SCOTUS court expansion by 3 justices.
Passage of Dems version of HR1 (includes end of political gerrymandering)
Pass a law revoking Citizens United
Pass a law restoring pre-clearance for the Voting Rights Act.

I think I would take that deal.

Republicans would never take that deal. Most of the people who would have to sign off on it probably want Trump in prison - he keeps making them lose elections.

Trump's minions might pressure Pubs to take that deal. You know they are not that bright.

Face it dems, we're F-ked. The TV news shows, all of them, are obsessed showing Trump "driving" to the airport. Showing his plane "waiting" to taxi. Showing his plane "taking off" into the wild blue yonder.

THIS is the problem, Donald Trump is mesmerizing. The media gives him 100% of their attention and god help Joe Biden.
Can you believe this is Trump's third indictment and third trip to the court and third motorcade ride and third jet flight and still the media remains mesmerized every inch of the way.

So, convince me again that Trump will not be the next president... because I will find that hard to believe. And the debates haven't even started yet for gods sake.
We're hooked on Trump. Be it a love/hate thing or whatever, but we just can't quit the Donald. Pretty much the old Brokeback Mountain syndrome.
Yep America, we're Fked. I guess we'll just have to get use to it, and use to total insanity. Nut house anyone? The bus is leaving in ten minutes.

He might get elected but will go to prison for GA. Law does not allow Gov Kemp to pardon.

Although I can see GA changing the law to allow.

I doubt independents will allow Trump to get elected.

How could a deal be made to drop cases for a promise to not run again work? Trump's word is worth absolutely nothing, everybody knows that.

A mesmerizing train wreck. I think a lot of the media attention now has viewers amazed at his gall. plus we are witnessing American history in real time. Trump has pomp but is unable to rise to any real circumstance. He won’t have the votes in swing states especially due to Roe. Then, hopefully, he can appeal until he dies or is GA prison

If hes found guilty of insurrection, who enforces the clause of the 14th amendment? FEC? His filing to run is denied? Is there any formal enforcement mechanism?

Meh, if it gets to Trump debating Biden on stage in front of America again, Biden will mop the floor with him, especially if the economy is anything close to stable. I think that will reinforce a lot of opinions given all of the other issues with Trump. I'd wager that he will never be president again regardless.

NYTimes notes that the indictment made no mention of charging Trump with insurrection, the reason being that it would delay the results until after the 2024 election. I don't know the details.
