Just horseshit 'gotcha' politics in my opinion...I expect more entertainment to follow from those who are so easily outraged by such things.

Lol...so, Trump is a victim of "gotcha politics". So its safe to assume that Rubio, Perry and Walker and any other Republican who criticized Trump are ""intellectuals" who are easily "outraged", correct?

Most career politicians are quite practiced in the art of talking using highly sanitized sound bites...Trump not so much. I personally take this kind of shit in stride...as well as the reactions and statements from career politicians running for office...which of course are all based on highly sanitized PC sound bites. Funny how that works.

Weird how being good at public speaking and not sounding like a dumbass is important when running for a political office. Also being held accountable is somehow surprising for Trump and his gibbering mob of mouthbreathers.

Trump's a dumbass, so it's hard for him not to sound like one. And this thread is a testament that gibbering mobs of mouthbreathers do indeed abound.

130 replies in this thread and I only saw a couple of troll bates that actually support Trump. For the most part all the mouthbreathing has just been from Liberals who still think this windbag has any valid chance.

Seriously, you guys need to calm down, he isn't going ANYWHERE.

Trump IMMEDIATELY modified his initial statement by saying FOUR times that McCain is a war hero. This is what I quoted and it is commonly overlooked by the "intellectuals" among us. Did you happen to overlook these quotes in your extensive research? Also, given the CONTEXT of his comments, there was obviously no intent to praise McCain....quite the opposite. Did you overlook the context of his comments in your exhaustive research as well? And lastly, I was pointing to facts that go beyond a sensationalized sound bite and can't believe that a reasonably intelligent human being would presume that I was interpreting Trump's comments as praise. But I will grant you one thing...you do seem to know quite a bit about the limited mental capacity of 3rd graders.
I agree, but when a Presidential candidate says someone who suffered years in a brutal POW camp is not a hero, even if/when he immediately walks it back, he's going to catch hell from the people who hate him. Same thing with saying "I like people who weren't captured" without immediately adding "as well as people who were captured." It's just the nature of the game, doubly so with conservatives, and doubly so again with Trump who brings the media to a froth simply by existing, much less by being ahead.

😀 +1

A great deal of Trump's problem is that he's used to getting away with saying stupid shit, and he's not yet understood that his saying stupid shit, not his wisdom such as it is, is why he was so feted. Now that he's apparently serious about reaching for power and currently driving the clown car on the right side of the track, he isn't quite so amusing.

You don't seem to understand that "liberals" are loving every minute of the Donald show.

Let's face it, a significant part of the Republican base is white and xenophobic. Trump has established serious bona fides with those voters due to his anti-Mexico ranting. Those voters don't give two shits about McCain, they think he lost because he wasn't conservative enough and if his image takes a pounding, well so what? What todays "Republicans" adore is cocksureness, the ability to be wrong at the top of your lungs. Trump has it in spades. I just can't see the base deserting a True Believer for the sake of McCain.

The 21st century GOP has made rabble-rousing, rather than responsible adult policymaking, its core principle. This is the result.

Hey... You can't spend 30 years dry-humping the crazy and then act surprised when the crazy wants to fuck.

That was awesome. I give it 2 :thumbsup:

Kudos to bad hair day for not backing down. The debates are going to be hilariously awesome. I foresee the candidates going after trump like they did with rp, Look at him like he has 8 heads, act all coy and shit when he challenges one of them and giving the most cheesy scripted answers that make you want to gauge your eyes out.

God I hope he hangs in there, it's going to be the best material ever for the night show comedians and Colbert.

McCain isn't a war hero.

As insensitive as Trump might be, the bastard is correct.

If McCain has been trumpeting himself as being a war hero, then though I cringe, I don't have a problem with Trump calling him out - there was no heroic act, except perhaps for signing up in the first place. We had a former student from my school - grenade was thrown, he threw his helmet over the grenade and dove on top of his helmet, shielding his fellow soldiers from the blast. He died as a result. THAT is a hero. If simply being in the service automatically makes you a hero, then that waters down the meaning of hero.

Requesting combat assignment in Vietnam was morally misguided and/or adventurism.

McCain's mishaps in the cockpit
Three early crashes drew Navy scrutiny. A review of his record reveals a cocky flier, prone to test the limits.

In the latest Washington Post/ABC news poll Trump is leading by double digits over Walker and Jeb!. So a lot of repubs(not just the fringe) must support what he's saying.

Is this the type person you would like to see as your President?????

Not me.

Trump never served a day in his life.. IMO he has no right to attack anyone who served this country, and they did it willingly.
The guy is pompous jerk and a retard.

Trump is the Republican base. No matter how many times the non-crazy Republicans say he isn't...he is.

Trump is what the Republican party has built as its base over the last 30 years.

With Citizens United, the Republican party is basically just a brand name. They don't have control over their candidates.

Most of the candidates need big money donor daddy to back them. Trump does not. So, Trump doesn't have to worry about pissing off some constituency. He is his own constituency.

In essence, the base is finally getting what it wants, and the non-crazy grifter subtypes aren't able to just muscle him off the stage. And it's hilarious.

Personally, I welcome Trump as the Republican nominee for 2016, and will vote for him in the primary if I have the chance.

You can't get elected if you allow yourself to say something that is taken (even out of Context) that can be used in a 30 second commercial to defile you. The question of military service is not as clear cut because I'll give examples of like FDR who tried to resign as Assistant Secretary of the Navy to enlist and fight in the Great War but had his resignation rejected. I'll add to the list Nebor started (post #9 this thread).

3) You need to know how to take orders before you get to issue them.

4) Every American need to give something back to this country if they expect to lead this country. That could be serving in the Peace Corp or working in a defense plant in time of war.

I challenge others to keep the list of benefits of service to this country make you better qualified to elected office. That doesn't mean you have to actually wear a uniform (Example Mary Edwards Walker) to demonstrate character and fitness for office but giving oneself for our nation sake should count for something.

I always likened it to feeding the bears, but I like that better. I'm stealing it.

They've also supplied the Crazy with a near infinite supply of crack cocaine, too, in the form of relentless smears, innuendo, shaming, blame shifting, fear mongering, faux moralizing and continuous trumped up scandals of conspiracy theory. Righties seem to have a fondness for the continuous dick-waving, as well.

Let's face it- a person needs to be pretty nuts in the first place to buy into Benghazi or imagine that Jade Helm was more than it was represented to be. They didn't get that way by accident, either. If you're foolish enough to believe it, you're too foolish to think it up yourself.

Trump embraces all of that while McCain obviously does not, therefore the feud.

Exerpt of the RNC response to Trump

There is no place in our party or our country for comments that disparage those who have served honorably

In light of the swift boating of Kerry are Republicans just full of shit??

That is not the issue though. Saying his war hero status is irrelevant to his position is one thing, but attacking his status as a war hero (he refused to be released from captivity ffs) isn't "being honest" its an attack on his person instead of his positions. Attacking whether a veteran deserves his purple heart, Navy commendation, bronze star, and silver star is completely beside the point and is unbecoming of a president
so sorry but McCaine is NOT and I repeat NOT a war hero.....regardless of the situation that you have quoted!!

There's a lot of angry repubs out there...I hope they keep pushing him higher in the polls, maybe he can get Palin as a running mate, seems like a match made in heaven.

They haven't. I'm not aware of any scientific polling of the Republican primary field that has taken place entirely after he made those comments.
