Should I feel 'safe' about going to Circuit City and buying a TV? Or should I wait a few weeks to see if they try anything?

I don't know what to tell you...but if you get one at CC do not elect to have them try to stuff it into your car.....either pay for delivery or get a truck.

If I couldn't fit something and the client told me to try it anyway and then it got damaged I would say that was their fault not mine.

Å

They have 10% off (In Store, not website) and Free Delivery and 18 months NI right now anyways... so dont have to pay any extra to get it delivered.

I'd call and see why your account was re-evaluated.

Tell me about it. Especially on a what sounds like a quality TV. The best places for quality stuff and quality service are the local appliance stores that have been around for decades and have a reputation to uphold.

As for this situation I think that the BB employees should not have been willing to put the TV in the car without the box, they should have refused. I know that is disappointing to the customer and I remember being disappointed that way once, but I'm glad I waited for them to just deliver it. However, having offered to help with the handling while on duty, and while in BB uniform, I think BB should offer a replacement. If BB even had a reputation they would have one to uphold, but still they should make good on that TV as the cause of damage was employee error (the error is not that they scratched the TV, but that they offered to help put it in the car at all).

Your second alternative, the next day is to refuse the chrages. Best buy is'nt it's own bank so you'll have some leverage there. Act now though.
the tv is in their possession.

Since no paperwork was done you haven't picked up the TV, can you still cancel the order online?

Edit: Looks like everything worked out. Good. Maybe you'll consider shopping somewhere else next time.

BTW, if no one delivers to your address you can rent trucks at Lowe's by the hour. You can also just get a U-haul that ends up costing around $40-60 after mileage and gas.

Nice, you get Visa protection with it and it's actually useful elsewhere.

Actually, just buy a TV that comes with a 3 year parts and labor warranty. Then, assuming you can haul it to a shop that performs warranty repairs to your brand, you're covered. (And don't you need to haul a TV back to Best Buy to make a claim with their no-service plan anyway?)

Exactly! When I was shopping for my HDTV, at places like BB, CC, Walmart, etc. it is WYSIWYP. I looked high and low for the best price and got it at the locally owned shop because the guy I was talking to actually knew what he was talking about. And he actually started the haggling process, not me. I ended up paying $200 less than the marked price (which was already about $50 lower that anywhere else) and got him to throw in a way better remote than what came with the TV.

BTW, What You See Is What You Pay for those who didn't know.

The thing with the local appliance store I went to is that I got the original manufacturer's matching stand for the TV for free! This is a $179 matching stand that the likes of BB, CC don't even carry. For an extra $15 they assembled it and mounted my TV on top of it in my home, and it couldn't look better. The TV and the stand look like they are one piece, that's how well they match. The quality of service, and the value I got was something that BB or CC couldn't even comtemplate dreaming of providing on their best day.

Whatever it is, even if it costs slightly more I always choose to buy from a reputable local appliance/electronics store with a reputation. Some of the quality chains like Ultimate Electronics are alright, but their prices tend to really bad.

I used to work at BB (*shudder*). They (managers) heavily encouraged the lower employees to screw people left and right.
