Tropic Thunder (The one movie to end the summer!)

One of the better movies of last summer. Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise were particularly brilliant in roles outside their standard fare. I actually found Jack Black's character the weakest in the film, but he's grown on me upon repeat viewings. Ben Stiller's character was exactly what it needed to be; a stereotypical muscular action junkie who fancies himself a legitimate actor. His laughs weren't as big as others in the film, but I certainly wouldn't say his performance was bad ("I'm a rooster illusion" is one of the better line readings in the movie).

I definitely enjoyed it alot. The movie just had so many laugh out loud points for me, I can't understand people who thought it was horrible. Anyone who doesn't laugh when Tom Cruise randomly starts dancing to Flo-Rida... well, you and I will probably end up killing each other in a fight to the death.

Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler get less funny as they go on in their careers. As does Will Ferrell.

And Eddie Murphy.

Watch 48 Hours, Raw, or Beverly Hills Cop then watch Daddy Day Care or Norbit and you'll see a comedic collapse of galactic proportions.

Eh, blame that on his kids. I believe he said that he would clean up his comedy when he had kids.

I love Eddie's older stuff.

That's because RDJ can do no wrong 😛. Charlie Bartlett is another recent movie of his that was pretty good... it also features Kat Dennings (the chick that always wears really dark lipstick and is rather pale 😛 but my old roommate likes her haha).

Ben Still movies are horrible i refuse to see them along with any movie made by will farrell.

I like Will Farrell 🙂 Talladega Nights and Anchorman were hilarious!

All Ben Stiller movies are the same though- a series of misunderstandings makes him look like an idiot, then he vindicates himself at the end. He only plays one character. He recylces that script and just changes the words anytime he gets a movie offer. It was the subject of Something About Mary, Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers, Along Came Polly, Night at the Museum...I think the studios finally saw the pattern and stopped giving him scripts after that.

How the hell was this movie 80%+ on Rottentomatoes? Robert Downey JR got nominated for a god damn OSCAR for this movie. What the hell is going on. The movie sucked pretty bad. Liked it much better when it was called The Three Amigos.

hahah....

While on its own, as a comedy, it was competent. However, when you compare it to the dreck that's been coming out lately that passes for comedy (think of the 'Epic' movies), it's a refreshing change to see something with real comedic bits and gags in it.
