Tropic Thunder (The one movie to end the summer!)

As Tropic Thunder gets near to its release date, would the trailers themselves spoil too much for the movie? After watching the different trailers I am getting a bit worried about getting that feeling inside "this movie sucks, all the good parts are in the trailers"

And yet I still feel compelled to watch it and enjoy it despite what I saw in the trailers.
Should be a great movie, since it has some of hollywood's known actors, like Robert Downey Jr. Not so sure about Jack Black or Ben Stiller, yet Ben Stiller is a bit of a unusual comedian, I still think he acts ok in this flick, plus he's the director (makes me wonder)

And lastly I heard their are a bunch of cameos in this flick (dont wanna spoil it)😉

What do you guys think?????🙂

"mamam ma ma make my peep pee maker tinnnngle"

Im mainly watching it not for Ben Stiller, but just to see how Robert Downey Jr could act as a black guy as an actor acting as a black within a movie movie, if that makes sense lol

oh btw what are the other links for other Tropic Thunder threads??? I haven't seen any tbh

Reminds me of how people complained about Kevin Smith's Dogma movie 😛. I love the An Evening With Kevin Smith part when he talks about how he picketed his own movie .

I still want to see the movie. But like the OP, I'm worried that all the good parts of the movie are in the trailer!

Andrew J. Imparato, president of the American Association of People with Disabilities, said he and other representatives from advocacy groups representing the mentally disabled met with DreamWorks co-chair Stacey Snider and watched a private screening of the film Monday morning. Imparato called the movie "tasteless" and said it was "offensive start to finish."

That's the best endorsement for a comedy I ever heard. If you're trying to convince people not to go, that's a retarded way to go about doing it.

And that had to be pretty awkward in the screening room.

does this movie not seem like "three amigos" some stupid actors think they are in a movie but they are not?

thats what i thought, but three amigos is worth watching.

I can't believe they are that up in arms about the term retarded. They tried to pull the same stunt at Napoleon Dynamite? Did they even watch that movie? Are they mad that the word retarded is being used without a single retard in sight and not in the same context?

They should rescue some scientists in Tropic Thunder that have down syndrome and they can keep referring to them as geniuses.

Just read this article on CNN and I think this idiot contradicts himself a bit.

Why 'Tropic Thunder' Should Not Be Seen

How much of an idiot is this guy? Chairman of the Special Olympics committee is calling out Dreamworks for producing Tropic Thunder because they make funs of mentally retarded people in the movie. Welcome to like every stupid comedy movie for the past 20 years. The biggest one standing out in my mind is that one with Johnny Knoxville a couple of years ago, "The Ringer".
So alright, I get it, he's offended by Hollywood's "denigration" of disabled people. But at the same time he goes on to thank them for all the copious amounts of money they contribute to the Special Olympics. How the hell does that work now? If you're going to take a stand on this, stop taking their money. Is it just me or is this almost like bribing him to shut up? It just seems like a contradiction to me to be pissed with the movies they make that belittle your minority group, but keep taking all that dirty money they're making at your expense.

I think this guy is not only the chairman, but also a client...

That's retarded. That guy's a retard.

They're calling it "the 'R' word" now. Quick! Everybody off to sensitivity training camp!

The whole situation is retarded. 😛

Also, I surprisingly like The Ringer. My brother is mentally disabled so I can be very defensive of joking, but I didn't find it offensive at all.

I got into an argument with my wife last night over this subject.

I think the movie looks hilarious; I told her I should start an "AA" organization; for a**h0les anonymous. I would then go after the media in a frenzy, complaining about the portrayal of a**h0les in movie and how I am offended that they are being called that horrible name.
