Transformers Trailer

I'm hesitant. Michael Bay has a history of making great trailers but atrocious films.

Like most others I have low expectations, but my butt will be out there on opening weekend to watch it.

I will reserve judgement till the final product is released but my initial reaction is that this did not feel like Transformers. Sure there were giant robots, but since they didn't let them talk in the trailer, they didn't seem to have any personality. The trailer looked like it could have been for godzilla or starship troopers or any other sci-fi type movie with large beasts threatening mankind. But I'm assuming that the actual movie won't be like this so hopefully the movie will do our beloved transformers justice.
Well said. Exactly how I feel, I just couldn't express it in my earlier post as I was too filled with rage by trying to use the crappy video player. 😉

I agree also.. I just hope they do them justice.. and give the robots the main focus in the movie.. and not focus on the realtionship between the human characters..

Agreed. i hope they don't focus on that ridiculous teen guy/girl. Who cares? Blow some sh!t up damnit!

lots of ****** blowing up. lots of fights. i do not want a fricken love story.

i have lowe expectations for the movie. but i still plan on going to see it when it is released!

absophokkinglutely hell yes. these guys know what these types of movies should be about. There has to be tons of Battling going on. or i'd be disapointed.

Looks like an entertaining "robot vs. humans" movie, but I think Bay deviated too much from the look and feel of the Transformers universe...granted, "Transformers: The Movie" was basically a ploy to introduce new characters and take the toy line in a different direction, but the designs of the actual characters were always fun.

In the trailer, the robots look...well...too roboty...seem like they should be in a Terminatory movie.

Now, bright jelly bean colors don't translate that well to movies, but it seems that Optimus Prime is the only character that resembles his cartoon self...at least from the images released thus far.

Yep its going to be an absolute atrocity to the old school transformers image. but ill be ****** if i let that stop me from watching it, giant robots, explosions, destruction, hell yeah!

Although interesting to note that, not too long ago, one of the comic book companies launched a Transformers vs. G.I. Joe series...and a series that told a what-if scenario of Transformers fighting during WW2.

The imagery and design of those comics did a relatively solid job of translating the look of the classic Transformers into a more realistic or real world design.

Unfortunate that Bay chose to reinvent the wheel.

i just hope they don't move too far from the original story which is why most of us want to see this flick. Just please don't do what they did to Godzilla.

Two things of interest in this trailer:

1. The toy the girl is carrying is a plush My Little Pony similar to this. An 80s toy reference. It's what the girls of my generation played with while the boys had their Transformers.

2. When it says "Some will come and defend us" they show the Camaro. When it says "Most will come to destroy us" they show the Mustang.

It kinda' made me mad in the trailer when they just showed glimpses of the Transformers, but then again, makes me want to see the movie that much more 😉

I've been a Transformers fan since '86 and my first toy was Starscream.

Would have liked to have heard a couple lines from them (I have no idea if they've even recorded them yet), but it would have been fun to hear a "Autobots, transform and roll out" or something at the end.

Agreed, I'd kill to hear Optimus yell 'Autobots transform!' at the end.

Ah, but do you have one of these? http://www.tfans.com/talk/index.php?showtopic=53814

No, but I do have FORTRESS MAXIMUS..... It stands about 22" tall 🙂
I have a collection of about 90 G1 and 10 Alternaters Transformers. I don't collect the trashy Duplo Block/Kiddie Transformers of today. Too UGLY and Playschool like! G1 Rules but Alternators are nice!
