I'm training for it now, but I have a long way to go! Also my 'friend' who wants me to join is a bit sketchy and I don't really know if he will get a team together. If he doesn't, can I join your team?! Or maybe I'll join your team anyway and do two of them! :)

Serious.

Absolutely! My former roommate asked if I'd go, and I'm working on convincing black2na, JCH13, and exdeath as well.

i was reading about this in maxim. i would so do this.

There was a similar race a few months back in the area. (edit: warrior dash)

Warrior dash in NY last summer had a lot of heavy drinking :awe:. I'm surprised so many people were actually able to finish the course.

Preregistered! (for both Las Vegas and New Jersey, 2 weeks later... that might be a bad idea)

Reading the info about it, they mention electricity. Is there some sort of wall or something that'll shock you if you're not careful? While I'm not in the shape to even try this, it sounds like fun, except for electricity. I don't mind some pain from being tired, but I have a strong dislike for getting electrocuted :D

In one of the videos they show the electricity obstacle. It's people running through wires hanging down, I think they were yellow. They are dense enough you can't avoid them. I'll try to find which video when I get home tonight.

Edit: too slow!!

And QueBert, you still have 8 months to train!

Nothing is going to kill you. Just push through it. You'll be sleeping in the day after and it will be all over. :D Stuff like this is 90% mental.

I'm sure they even have medical staff on hand to pull people out who over exert and damage themselves.

And metal health professionals for everyone who fills out an entry form.

You know what's crazy? The hardest part about that stinkin' thing (at least the VT one closest to me for example) is the "kinky tunnell" where you are herded like pigs one way into a 2.5' x 2.5' tunnell that appears to be a good 30-40 yards long. WTH? I'm beyond claustrophobic and I can't even imagine being stuck in the middle of that thing with like 30 people in front of you, and then 20/30 behind you just pushing your forward when you have no where to go!! Do you think they limit the amount of people in the tunnell?!? Does not seem like a good idea to me. Or poor planning if they don't limit it....

Hehe its just 10,000 volts from a car battery. Ever been bit by an ignition system? Just stings a little, nothing too terrible. :awe:

Why is no one addressing my very valid concern? Or am I just a big pussy?

The tunnels?

It's just a mind game. Think of it like Fear Factor. Just need to block it in your mind and do it. Close your eyes and have your partner/team guide you if you have to, it will be over in 60 seconds.

It's an all rounded course that is supposed to challenge everyone. I imagine there is at least one section that is a major "fear" for most people, be it tight spaces, trapped under water, electric shock, fire, heights, etc.

Like I said above, things like this are 90% mental and are designed that way on purpose.

Your concern with being "stuck" is an illogical part of the claustrophobia. Everyone's goal is to finish, there will be a constant flow at all times. Nobody is going to want to stop and stay "stuck" in there any longer than you do. Attack phobias with logic.

If it helps, remind yourself that there are staff, medical personel, and lots of people around you at all times. It's not like you're stuck in a cave in the wilderness by yourself left to die or anything. The whole thing is only 3 hours. Three lousy hours, then it's done, over.

My only real fear? Failure. But I have 8 months to resolve the only possible cause of failure.

I do mud/obstacle runs out in the wilderness. Often for distances quite a bit longer than a marathon. These warrior/tough mudder/muddy buddy obstacle fun races don't last long enough to make them fun for me. But lots of people do like them, y'all have a blast out there.

I'm really glad to hear this. I was a bit worried it'd be too lng for me. I hope it'll be a good challenge for a newly fit person with a good team!

(excuse any typos, I hd eye surgery yesterday and am not supposed to be looking at the computer. Have sunglasses on in the dark, but it's still blurry,. lol)
