For those who pre-registered, you have until the March 9th (this Friday) to apply a $10 discount to the "Early Bird" pricing of $90 for total fee of $80.

The "Early Bird" pricing of $90 is only valid until the end of March, then it starts going up.

Do we have a team yet? Do we have to register with a team name? I heard it's a pain to change afterwards, but as far as I can tell the only benefit is a discount (I don't know what the discount is), and also, being registered for the same start time.

Also, I'm flying in to Vegas a day or two before. I won't have a vehicle and the event is 2 hours away. If someone can pick me up on the way through Vegas I'll register and get my flight. (I have a couple ATOT references to prove I'm not scary!)

RaceIt will send a $5 refund to members of teams with 6+ people, $10 refunds to members of teams with 11-20 people, and $20 to members of teams with more than 20 people.

I think I'm going to have to train for the swimming obstacles if they have any. Sounds like they can be tough.

This guy has a pretty good overview about some of the obstacles.

Are you guys wearing a costume for this thing? I wanna do something haha. I have a Green Man Costume but I'd probably drown wearing that thing.

Team Turbo Snails!

Most of us will be wearing charcoal Turbo Snail t-shirts (probably putting it over a white long sleeve UnderArmor shirt). :awe:

It snowed 15 cm here last night and it's still coming down. I think that's a good start. My feet will be cold and wet by the end. :D

I haven't been to Tough Mudder yet, but from ALL of the videos I've seen of this obstacle, and others, they only let so many people through at a time. Presumably for this reason. If they didn't, every obstacle would contain the risk you describe, and water related obstacles moreso I would think.

Northstar,
Thanks for the description! I'm so excited!! I saw the pics for SoCal, it looked like insane fun. There was even an obstacle I hadn't seen before. Was this your first Tough Mudder?

The risk or fear is what makes this a cool course. I am clausterphobic but i refuse to let it stop me, I would get nervous and scared but go thru it like those closed water slides, they scare me but what a rush!

I've got you covered up here in NY, for another week anyways. Gnarly, muddy, hilly, singletrack trails in a national forest sound good?

I can probably pick you up.

How are you guys preparing for the cold water stuff? I've been doing cold showers but that's a pretty big shock already. I was thinking about LMFAO outfits but not so sure anymore.

Do you live somewhere with a big cold lake you can go swim in?

All I've done is take off my jacket and jump in the snowdrifts a couple times. After looking at the course map and google maps, and looking at the average temperatures in the area, I'm much more concerned with how I'm going to deal with the heat. I'm thinking the cold might actually be refreshing for me.

I actually don't know. I'm not really too confident about my swimming abilities so it's something I will need to train before the event. Do they ever list out the obstacles before the race?

If you go to the Tough Mudder events page and click on the event you are signed up for, then click to view full map, it will show you the course map and all obstacles except the 'mystery obstacle'.

Jump into an unheated pool on a cold night (eg < 40F) . If you can control your breathing for the first 15 seconds or so through the initial shock, you're good.
