foghorn67?
Anyway, why not just go for broke and claim that sushi should only be had in Japan?
This is KT's thread now
Sushi's gotta be had fresh, so you have to be by the ocean. All of the raw fish I've had here smells fishy, and I've been to some fairly expensive sushi restaurants. It's not supposed to smell fishy.
I think only the Japanese are big on truly fresh serving. A lot of other places demand that fish be frozen to kill parasites. This is KT's thread now

Most of the big fish are frozen when caught. then thawed at the restaurant, really doesn't make much diff if you are by the ocean or not.

Well, I am in London. Unfortunately a meet-up is out of the question for me. I injured my right hip and can barely walk and I am in a great deal of pain.
Maybe later on when I am back to normal would i be able to meet some ATer's.

Manageable if you're sleeping with Lady Luck, maybe.Whether it is or isn't, I wouldn't eat it.
I occasionally eat ocean fish raw if I get them fresh off the boat. In the store I always cook it. Fresh raw is better than flash frozen IMO. Higher risk sure, but it's still manageable.
