They really really really need to have Fabio judge a quickfire "top scallop" competition.

Padma is racky because she is (actually, "was," because Top Chef: DC was filmed some months back) preggers. You can even see a bit of a baby bulge in a few scenes.

the first few eps are always kinda boring because you dont know the contestants at all and you weed out the weak chefs.

and whoever said gail > padma is just flat out wrong.

I 100% agree. TC is one of my and my wife's favorite shows but I did not care for anyone's personality aside from the guy who won the "chopping" quickfire. Most of them seem either dicks, douchy, idiots or all of the above. I'll give it a couple shows...

ime, most good chefs are that way, except for the idiot part. It comes with the territory. They have to be very confident of their abilities or else they'd be too chickenshit to ever create dishes and serve them to others in the first place. Plus, most of them run successful restaurants so they get stroked on a regular basis for their expertise.
 
I'm not into any of the personalities so far. Kenny seems ok - looks like he can cook, he's my early favorite. Angelo seems like a dick. So much of a dick that I better go check and see if he went to law school with me.

Every successful restaurant is one season away from closure. Humility is a good characteristic in just about every profession, save for professional wrestling.

Especially for Top Chef DC, where we've had some notable closures due to the economy in the past year. Hell, El Bulli is closing - Ferran Adria says the place never made a dime.

Guys like Jose Andres or Michel Richard. Those are legit DC chefs with broad success and a great attitude. Look at Minibar. That place breaks even on a good night, but Andres says its "his gift" to our city.

When they showed season previews, I was expecting to see Michel Richard, but it looks like he won't be on. I am disappoint.
