I only listened to it through once, but wasn't that impressed. Maybe i need to absorb it more. i don't know.

Aenima is my favorite disc, followed by Undertow.

vicarious/pot are the easiest tracks to get into

jambi's talk box solo is ridiculous; i've grown to love right in two, ALOT, same with rosetta stoned

10k days/wings for marie is pretty epic, but I didn't like it the first 5 or 6 times I listened to it.

The problem with 10,000 days is there's 17 minutes worth of filler crap that I can't stand:

Lipan Conjuring (ugh)
Lost Keys
Intension
Vigniti Tres

The rest of it is amazing though.

Lost keys is pretty cool. Sets up rosetta stoned perfectly. Vigniti Tres (if that's the track before 'right in two') same deal. I don't listen to either all the time, but when I want the full experience then they're cool. A preface to the story if you will.

The problem with it is that it's B-sides from Lateralus that took 6 years to come out. Not worth the wait in my opinion for such little innovation. Also a big minus sign for terrible lyrics on a lot of the songs.

They are all great. Every release impresses me... but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Aenima.

Aenima was a great album. It has too many amazing songs on it to not qualify as their best. Songs like Stinkfist, 46 and 2, Aenima, and .h are some amazing songs, and I didn't even name all of the great ones. I feel it ends a little weak with several of the later tracks being lackluster and too dull to care about.

10,000 Days was a surprisingly awesome album. I find it interesting that despite 3 strong popular songs (Vicarious, Jambi, The Pot) my favorite song was actually the album title track 10,000 Days (Wings pt 2).

Salival is one of those albums I feel lucky to have gotten ahold of since it was limited and out of print now. Unfortunately most of the album is just live versions. However the fact that one of the best bands of current music put out a brilliant remake/reimagining of my all time favorite song by one of my all time favorite bands, makes this album worth having! I even have a tattoo in runes that says "no quarter", so this song makes me very happy.

10,000 days is to Tool what the "Black" album was to Metallica.

Black was Metallica's most mainstream accessible album. 10k Days is quite the opposite.

It's all decent prog-pop rock. No one really stands out above the others.

Acting like any Tool or Metallica isn't mainstream accessible is just funny. They are the mainstream.

Nah, Intension is the one before Right in Two. It's a pretty good filler, or preface like you said. You can't really end the album though with Right in Two, so Viginiti Tres does it's job.

10,000 Days for me. The production quality and the quality of the recording itself all astound me.

Once everyone was satisfied with the mixes, they flew to Portland, Maine, to master the project at Bob Ludwig's Gateway Mastering facility. Ludwig used the Pyramix Virtual Studio DAW and a state-of-the-art Sound Performance Laboratory analog console. Ludwig, Barresi and the band listened through 800-pound Eggleston Works Ivy Speakers that are actually seated down to bedrock. Ludwig also used George Massenburg and Manley EQs on the project.
