I don't think him being stoned or not has a thing to do with anything. Being drunk on the other hand yes I'd agree. Anyone blaming pot is a fucking retard.

Are you implying that being stoned does not impair one's driving?

Or more importantly, their judgment.

Anyone who thinks that the involvement of narcotics is a non issue is in fact the retard, not the other way around.

Watch NASCAR change another rule over this and start making drivers piss test before and after every race. Turn them into horses.

NASCAR already does random drug tests. That's how they caught AJ Allmendinger.

I know that, but its totally random. I think it should be a test every race, every driver. They do it for horses, before and after the race. Granted its for different reasons but I don't see how this is going to cause any issues in NASCAR.

First of all, marijuana is NOT a narcotic. Even though it is a 'schedule 1 narcotic' by legal definition, medically it isn't a narcotic at all.

Second of all, I highly (no pun intended) doubt that the kid was 'stoned' out of his mind.

Third, as someone who has used marijuana frequently in the past, I can attest that if the guy was doing bong rips before his race, he's an idiot.

Fourth, IF he was really stoned during the race AND he wasn't a frequent user, I could suspect he could have been disoriented enough to make a mistake like this.

Fifth, I really want to see the actual measurement used to determine that he was 'impaired' and what kind of marijuana it was. If it was a high CBD sativa, he could have done bong rips before the race and still been ok to drive. If it was a low CDB indica, he could have been totally impaired.

Well by this action, I'm glad they suffered the loss of their son, they deserve it.

They may not be acting correctly but wishing that on anyone is even worse IMO, they are entitled to their day in court, they will get bilked out of a bunch of $$ by greedy lawyers and they will promptly lose in court.

I love how people think that marijuana has no major effect on your thought processes. Maybe my reasoning isn't sound, but everyone I ever knew that smoked pot also had the privilege of being brain dead from the asshole both ways.

Pot makes you stupid. Kid did something stupid because he was either stupid, or smoked himself retarded. Either way he's dead now because he was stupid. Darwin = mission accomplished.

I see a lot of stupid sober people too. Something tells me those people you knew were stupid as fuck before they started smoking pot.

There is a connection regardless. If you're smart you don't waste time killing braincells.

How many smart people do you see drinking wine to the point of total impairment? Not many.

Lots of people actually - go to many 4/5* restaurants and they'll bring their 5 or 6 $150-$200 bottles of wine, pay the corkage on it, and then destroy the entire lot and take a cab home after.

Conversely, you know you can smoke without getting totally impaired right?

Only smart people go to 4/5* restaurants and get blitzed? Being smart and being rich aren't exactly the same thing.

LOL, quoted for idiocy.

WTF is it then?

The old school definition of narcotic was any opium based drug. Today any prohibited drug is considered a narcotic.
The term narcotic (pronounced /nɑrˈkɒtɨk/) originally referred medically to any psychoactive compound with sleep-inducing properties. In the United States of America it has since become associated with opioids, commonly morphine and heroin. The term is, today, imprecisely defined and typically has negative connotations.

When used in a legal context in the US, a narcotic drug is simply one that is totally prohibited, or one that is used in violation of strict governmental regulation, such as PCP or marijuana.

"First of all marijuana isn't a narcotic, even though it is!"

Way to miss the point, smart ass.

By scientific definition, marijuana is not a narcotic. The legal definition of narcotic has been stretched/distorted, mostly due to 'drug war' agendas, so that it now includes marijuana.

I know plenty of smart people that get to the point of impairment, although, not total. Just because you don't, doesn't mean they don't exist. The problem with drinking your favorite wines all day, is you get drunk.

The only idiocy is your response.

The original poster that I replied to claimed marijuana was a narcotic. It is not.

You, sir, have smoked yourself retarded. Narcotic - a drug or other substance affecting mood or behavior and sold for nonmedical purposes, especially an illegal one. Pot falls under that umbrella, does it not?

I did not realize alcohol was a narcotic until today.

I'm pretty sure this is one of those "new math" things where they now use the word "narcotic" to cover stuff politicians don't like. Where it used to mean

The term narcotic (/nɑrˈkɒtɨk/, from ancient Greek ναρκῶ narkō, "to make numb") originally referred medically to any psychoactive compound with any sleep-inducing properties.
