This game comes out next week, and I can't believe no one is even talking about it on here. So far, most reviews look to be very good, and I am interested in this series reboot. It will be a day one buyer for me.

My wife loves the Tomb Raider series so we may be picking up a copy, especially if it is a day 1 digital.

Calling it now, it will turn into a game about bouncy boobs again and flop.

Its what killed the franchise in the first place. Boobs alone won't sell a terrible game for long.

They made her tits smaller in this one. I don't think this game is going to flop. It has gotten a lot of praise so far and outside of the TR diehards who are angry at the new direction the series is going the general response on forums and other places is really positive so far for the game. There is lots of footage of it and streams to watch the game and it seems for the most part pretty solid overall. Her tits and bouncing are not a focal point outside of the fact she is a women and you will notice her tits regardless.

If you would watch any of the gameplay videos, you would know that this isn't the case. It looks like a pretty awesome game.

It's getting better reviews than I can remember any of them getting in a while so it doesn't seem terrible.

Glanced over the IGN review where they gave it a solid 9.1. Think they're trying to do a more cinematic game to take on the Uncharted series. I really do want to see then get away from the bouncing boobs. Video game producers still struggle to write strong, well developed female characters. Heck, they still struggle to write strong, well developed characters in general.

I actually thought the game was coming out towards the end of 2013. Didn't realize it was coming out so soon. Going to check out the trailers again. Steam has a pre-order sale right now.

I just can't fight my interest in this game. I really only need to buy one game next week, so I guess this will win and I can just gamefly The Show and then MLB 2K13 for the 360 and see which game I like more and buy it in the future.

It looks exactly like Uncharted with a female lead. Hey let's use the same engine and 90% of the art assets from another game, stick Lara Croft in it, and call it a new game.

10 years ago this was a skin pack and a $10 bargain expansion pack, now it's a triple A title...

You know that they're both made by two completely different studios (Naughty Dog and Crystal Dynamics), right? 😛

What you're saying is that Uncharted is a rip off of Tomb Raider seeing as how much older that series is.

definitely very interested in this game. i'm just not sure if i want to redbox it and beat it in a few days or if i want to purchase it. i haven't been following if there is any multiplayer or replay aspect to this game at all.

also god of war comes out a week later. i am 90% going to redbox god of war because i usually run through those in like 3-4 days and don't ever touch them again. don't care about the online portion of this game.

EDIT:

all i know about this game really is the demo they showed i think at e3 last year that looked insane.

There is an online component for Tomb Raider. I was going to buy GoW, but played the demo and came away unimpressed, so I will be skipping it and getting Bioshock instead.

didn't know there was as demo of gow, i'll check it out tonight. if it is the same as previous gow's though it is going to be epic as hell and i know i will enjoy it.

So? Do you think that game devs write their own engines? Publishers? It's more likely that they license someone else's engines. Devs may call the suite of 3rd-party software tools they use to create a game, their engine, but most devs are not like id, Epic, or Valve, where they design a complete suite from the ground up. I think at best, most devs tweak an engine to suit their needs.

I'd love to know more, but it's not like devs advertise all the middleware they use, so you'd have to have some inside knowledge to be sure, but Uncharted and Tomb Raider look, and look like they feel, almost identical.

Naughty Dog makes their own custom engines. A lot of studios and publishers do actually. Granted, most games license an engine for use and do tweak it to their needs as you said, but a lot more use their own then you think. I think Tomb Raider is using Crystal Dynamics own engine they have used on previous TR games just tweaked more.

It is becoming a lot more common for larger publishers to develop their own engine for most of their games to run on now. Smaller devs also make their own engines a lot now too, cd projekt red and 4a (Metro devs) are two that pop spring right to mind.
