'Tomb of St. Paul' maybe be opened... (update)

Vatican archaeologists uncovered the tomb in 2006 in a crypt under the basilica and said the fact that it was positioned exactly underneath the epigraph 'Paulo Apostolo Mart' (Paul the Apostle and Martyr) at the base of the cathedral's main altar was conclusive proof that it was the apostle's sarcophagus.

The tomb also has a hole in the top through which which pieces of cloth could be pushed, touching the relic and becoming holy in their turn.

However, nobody actually knows what is inside the tomb, which may even be a cenotaph (empty tomb) erected in the name of the saint.

I'm pretty sure that 'tomb' is empty don't they have other popes that they can dig up like a time capsule to see what's inside?

1. Carbon dating can't accurately date objects older than a few thousand years
2. Prior to the Genesis flood the earth's climate was significantly different and yadda yadda yadda blah blah blah

Separately, archaeologists have uncovered an image of St. Paul which could be "could be considered the oldest icon of the apostle known to date," the Vatican's official newspaper reported Sunday.

This is more interesting. Bones will always be bones, but it would be cool to know what the historical person of Paul looked like.
