7 rings: 6 with Patriots, 1 with Tampa Bay

Not a fanboi since i think the Patriots cheated in at least 1 of them.

Good in he's not doing what another Tampa Bay QB (Vinny Testaverde) did, which was be a backup QB for 15 more years

edit:
Here's the post that has his Twitter announcement:

Tampa will now be irrelevant for another 20 years until the stars align for another Super Bowl.

Todd Bowles might be wise to ruminate about that zero blitz.

And no longer a puppet, Bruce Arians will revert to his no risk it, no biscuit philosophy.

Oh, and twenty years ago, I suspect the future Mrs. Brady and her fellow models were by far the bigger attraction than the games.

He's said he was thinking about retiring before, but I think that it might stick this time :)

Timing look to be right, he proved he could move on to a different organization and still win a SB and who knows what TB will look like next year. Also glad there will be no "farewell" tour, Brady was never about the drama anyway.

GOAT. Sad to see him go, but the timing is good.

Certainly the greatest career of all time no doubt however I won't miss him!

;)

EDIT: Assuming he actually goes... CBS Sports reported a few minutes ago Brady just said he HAS NOT made up his mind?

Hey, Jameis Winston only had a one year deal in NO last year, time for Bruce to give him a ring if Aaron Rodgers can't be bought out of GB.

Maybe Bruce will take a gamble on Drew Lock. Dude can't play but he got a cannon.

I think it's pretty much guaranteed Rodgers is out of GB simply because drafting a QB is like an arranged marriage with a deadline for consummation of that marriage. Love has to be trotted out so there is no negotiation fodder in a CBA talk and they do have to see what he really can do. The beta test thanks to Rodgers' COVID infection seems to have shown less than promising results.

Doubt the Packers will let Rodgers go to an NFC team. Maybe Pitt, Indy, Denver.

Also, the media might have false started on the reports.

Lol if Tom decides to play another year just to troll Schefter.
Possible, Schefter was always out front breaking all the supposed "stories" about Brady, Kraft, Belechick plus the whole "deflategate" laughable nonsense. Balls adjusted at halftime vs Colts and Brady was BETTER in the 2nd half.

On the news they said that Tom himself and nobody close to him is saying he's retiring. It's kind of a rumor thing right now. When he retires he'll make an announcement. Could happen any minute. Could happen tomorrow. Could happen in a week, or two weeks. I'm not a fan, really, of Tom. But his cold blooded dissection of defenses is something to behold and admire.

Personally, I hope he just says he's playing next year somewhere, TBD. I think he has said he'd like to play to 50. He's only what? 44?

He originally said he wanted to play until 45 or sooner if "I start sucking". Last year he led the NFL in yards and TD passes so his game has certainly not gone downhill at all. That said, it can't be fun at 44 to get slung to the turf by a Von Miller and I think he's proved a point in that he could leave the Pats and still be successful.

I don't know that this was his motivation. I think he enjoyed playing still, thought he had more good years in him on the field. I imagine that if he thinks it would be a downer to continue his NFL career as a QB, he'd step away now. I think I heard he did say this year that he thought he might play to 50. We all know he does NOT suck now.

he could troll everyone and just play game 1 next season then retire.
he'll be age 45 and the 2nd oldest QB in nfl history.

George Blanda was oldest at 48yrs old (1949-1975), but some of that was b4 the afc/nfc merger to form the nfl

False start
On the media, ESPN's Schefter.
Slap on the wrist and public humiliation.
Still remains Tom's down.

He'll retire. He will announce it himself after the Superbowl is over so it doesn't distract from the playoffs.

I haven't quite decided...is this Brady's attempt to get a better contract...or is there some contractual reason for delaying his announcement?

Haha, 8 pages and no mention of his time in NE.
Yea, I saw that, the only team that thought he might amount to something took the chance as the 199th selection and he can't be bothered to mention that, kinda petty IMHO.

I saw that being pointed out. Definitely intentional and definitely petty. The team that gave him the shot nobody else would and helped groom him into the GOAT should have gotten a nod.
