On the serious side, we can not continue the current status quot, it will bankrupt our nation if the healthcare cost keeps going up and up and up.

We need to get away from the metality "someone else is paying for it so I don't care, give me everything you got, Doc...damn the cost".

Now let's suppose your 5 year old daughter is diagnosed with cancer. How pragmatic are you?

That may one day happen. Not quite like the movie, but over time I can see people going on the air about the plight of the miserable elderly who cannot take care of themselves. We flash to video of people suffering from caregiver burnout. Then we see how poor grandpa was so vital, and now he doesn't remember where he is some days. Wouldn't it be a kindness to give the Ultimate Healing, where suffering ends. By heck, when we get to that state we should take the burden off our families and when we apply for a drivers license we check off a box saying that we agree to it.

After a few years we have a slight change. We have to opt out of euthanasia. Done right there could be such a social stigma that it becomes the norm.

Don't hurt the ones you love, make the brave choice.
 
How about this, anyone who advocates denying anyone health care should have their own, and their families' health care cut first.

Should be for everything then. Can't afford to pave the street or street signs in front of your house or neighborhood, can't have them. Can't afford to pay the police or fire department when you need them, can't have them. Can't afford to pay for emergency National Guard services if your area is in disaster, can't have them. Can't afford to send your kids to school or cannot afford to pay for college yourself, can't do it. Why just stop at health care?

On the bright side, getting rid of the sickest 20&#37; would mean that we get rid of a significant portion of the tea party on medicare.

I would let her died even those I love her, because fighting cancer isn't something many people want to go through. My dad had cancer and died from it with unsuccessful treatments and he was the one that request the stop treatment.

We could start with the right to die.

Sure - if this is in conjunction with economic reform so we don't have an oligarchy where most people can't afford much to protect the rich's interests.

Create flat wealth where everyone has enough to pay for healthcare, and then I'll support that.

Until then, no. The government providing healthcare is far more practical and moral.

You want to defend economic injustice to the point of killing the poor, you deserve about the same amount of 'justice', none. Call their killing you self-defense.
