Does anyone know if he left a large sum of money to spinal cord research in his will?

If he did, I will say he was unselfish.

If not, I still say he was only doing it for his own benefit.

To me, a Hero is someone who risks life and limb for others with no thought for personal safety or accolade's.

I'm not saying he didn't do some good, I'm only saying he was NOT heroic IMO.

Wrong. He raised money for spinal cord research. He went in front of Congress and lobbied for more funding. He could have rotted away, his situation was miserable and unbearable yet he continued to lobby and raise cash. Obviously his motivations were selfish, but you can not judge him by how much he left the cause in death, he needs to take care of his surviving family and has raised more for the cause than anyone in history.

It's his family. He left his money to his family because that's what you do when you die, no matter how rich you are. He then allows his family to distribute his money as he sees fit.

The Maddox article pretty much lays out the case against him, and even with Maddox's sarcasm, he's dead on.

That may all be true. But it DOESN'T make him a hero. Just someone who wanted to walk again. Not that that's a bad thing.

he created a foundation so i assume he had to of left at least part of his money to it.
