Of course, cops are going to have to adjust their tolerance for this sort of thing, now that every economy car is coming with about twice as much horsepower as it needs.
I agree that it's kind of a BS ticket.

What kind of car do you drive? That would determine the amount of BS the ticket holds.

That's bull. Fight it. Point out that you were not above the speed limit at the time that the cruiser went to pull you over, and check the rules of the road for anything about acceleration - you might find something about safe acceleration. Argue police bias against yellow Corvettes?

is chirping the same as squealing? if so, that'd be my guess as to the op's situation.

Yes, they can, and yes[here in Oregon], it's a huge load of BS. :|
Here the ticket is called "Speed Racing", which actually covers quite a long list of offenses, some of which are "Show of acceleration", "Unnecessary acceleration", etc...

QFT. If nothing else, you never know if there's some idiot running the red light or some pedestrian crossing improperly. Two additional good reasons not to do this.Originally posted by: Eeezee
Fight it, but I hope you lose, frankly. If you want to be a racer, go do that on a closed track.
