What kind of car were you driving? Did you peel out/burn rubber/squeek your tires at all?

His sig has a C6 Corvette it has the same, if not updated, Active Handling/Traction Control system my C5 Vette has. With that said the only way he "burn rubber" is if he turned both systems off. If they were on he just here a bing sound and the AH/TC active signal would pop up on his dash.

But yea I would fight it. Even under light throttle my C5 takes off pretty good let alone the extra 50Hp his car has over mine. Also I would like to see how a cop could prove you speed up to fast? Its all opinion and i think the OP can win this. Most cops/cities know most will not fight them so its easy money for them.

That's BS. I can spin the tires from a roll on my stock 02 Z06 with the TC/AH both turned on. It takes a sec for the system to catch it.

First of all, cops are assholes. That's why they became cops in the first place.
Second, you are driving a corvette. This is like waving red(or yellow) in front of a bull.
Cops, and people in general are jealous of people driving nicer cars than they do, and even more so if it is a high performance car.
Don't want anymore ridiculous tickets?, sell the 'vette.

I don't know about where you live, but the cops around here can afford Corvettes and Porsches too.

I'm surprised the majority of Subaru owners haven't been ticketed then. Can't tell ya how many times my legacy gt has stuttered, and turbo lag can cause a sudden burst of acceleration.

Go to court and ask the cop two questions:

1) What is an acceptable rate of acceleration (e.g. X meters/sec^2)
2) How fast were you accelerating

I really doubt he will be able to answer those questions. When he can't answer, ask him since he can't say what an acceptatble rate of acceleration is and he's not sure how fast you acccelerated, how can he possible say you accelerated too fast?

The judge should be the one to answer if there is an "Acceleration limit".

If so there should be Acceleration limit signs posted at every stop sign and traffic light in the country immediately.
