Well, Iran shouldn't threaten the US. However, merely saying you will Defend yourself is a serious affront to Trump. Just ask Justin Trudeau or any US ally.
In one way, the stand-off may not be quite as perilous as it looks. President Rouhani’s remarks were given to an audience of Iranian diplomats, and the apparent threat to the United States was the second half of the sentence. What he actually said, according to the Iranian state news agency, was: “Americans should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars,” which leaves rather a different impression and suggests a door left deliberately open, not closed.
Putin's bitch is trying to sound macho now?
That's not really what happened, however.

My thinking is that this is gaslighting by Trump to steer us away for his most recent Twitter rant about Russia. I’m actually surprised it hasn’t made more news.
He posted that Russian interference was a hoax and that if it was real why didn’t Obama do anything about it at the time. So, those statements that he has full confidence in our intelligence agencies and that the Russians did interfere (although it “could have been others”) definitely seems to be what he believes, right?

I'm pretty sure he has tweeted things along that same line about 1 billion times thus far.
Uh no. Here's an early article below. Iran's financial problems have accelerated and there is continuing widespread discontentment in Iran. By virtue of the USA pulling out Iran's banking has been FUBAR'd.Iran probably doesn't even care.
Quite simply because the JCPOA is still valid with the other 5 countries and Iran has been selling oil cheaper to China and India to raise cash.
The only thing that slightly changed with the bufoon withdrawing us from the JCPOA is that Boeing lost 19 billion dollars worth of orders which Airbus and Comac are eager to pick up and Airbus isn't scared of tariffs or sanctions since they have a plant on US soil so it wouldn't apply to them.
That could easily pass for a 13 year old raging in all caps in an online game of counterstrike. He is good with Russia and Putin, but Iran warrants an all caps rage case tweet.
Must play better to his base. Russians are the wrong complexion to hate on. The irony is the US shares some responsibility for the destabilizing of Iran by facilitating the coup that put the Shah in place. Which then led to the revolution that put the religious fanatics in control. All motivated by oil, sounds familiar...
Unfortunately not everyone knows this. There wouldn't be any problems with Iran if the US just didn't meddle and install the Shah. Iran was actually quite modern and secular and they are far more extremist now.
Wow. Agreeing with a post Incorruptible made. I feel dirty. I need a shower.Unfortunately not everyone knows this. There wouldn't be any problems with Iran if the US just didn't meddle and install the Shah. Iran was actually quite modern and secular and they are far more extremist now.

I can't hear you, I'm in the shower. No need to feel dirty. There will be other posts that you'll agree with me.
Certainly that's a good question, but you know the answer that derails it. what's in it for us isn't an operating consideration.Trump is just an all around shameful disgrace. By all indications, Iran was sticking firmly to the deal as made. It got us what we wanted, too- an Iran not armed with nuclear weapons for the foreseeable future. We have the most reasonable govt in Iran that we've seen in a long time. We have a very high level of cooperation with most of the other members of the 5+1, as well.
Why America would want to fuck that up is beyond my comprehension. What's in it for us?
Hey, nothing wrong with that seeing how most of the world needs us b/c of the dollar. So define "rogue", and why we weren't considered "rogue" under obama while he was droning his enemies on foreign soil without UN approval? lmaoWorld condemnation as we become a rogue nation.
^^^projecting that black and white racism again? JFC get back on your meds or soemthingsnip
Oh -- almost forgot. Trump will do his best to upend the agreement with Iran for a totally unrelated reason: Obama was black; everything Obama did is wrong; and Trump must erase the Obama legacy.
snip
JFC, do you really think Trump has to do the thinking? He has a bevy of advisors who tweet for him and give him his options. At that level of power there isn't much thinking required, most of it would be done by the military and its ground truthed intel where the Donald is given 2 or 3 options and he picks one.Trump still hates the fact Obama tried to make a deal with Iran.
And Iran likes their money and doesn't want that locked away.
AND...and... AND... "IF" there were a war it would probably be a nuclear war.
AND... how that would happen is with some unholy alliance between Iran and ??? coming into play.
Might be Iran + N Korea, but doubtful.
Might be Iran + the Soviet Union. Much more likely. MUCH!
Or... an unholy alliance between Iran and countries unknown (at this point).
What we really need to be concerned about is with those UNHOLY- ALLIANCES coming into play. A scenario where 1+1 = nukes to America.
Or 1+ 2 or 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = nukes to America.
Like I say, it is ALWAYS worse than anyone had dared to guess.
To assume some unholy alliance could never come about leading to a real nuclear threat against America is foolish to assume.
We have no idea where Iran is with their nuclear program.
We have no idea if Putin and Iran might find common ground to challenge America.
We have no idea which nuclear enabled Middle Eastern nation might already have the ability of full nuclear war against the west.
We really have no idea.
If one single nuke hit anywhere within US territory, Trump would be crapping in his pants and the rest of America wondering if tomorrow will come.
THAT happening would make 9/11 look like a day in the park.
And if anyone can screw up, Donald Trump can screw up.
Donald Trump is no JFK.
Should another similar Cuban Missile crisis event come about, we are totally screwed.
We ALL realize that.... I hope.
Do we really trust Donald Trump to "think" us thru such an impending disaster?
As JFK successfully did?
Hell. Trump would allow America to go up in smoke as Donald flew off in his private jet seeking new realestate opportunities over in foreign lands.
Donald has the money to escape. And he wouldn't care.
