Have we, as a country, sunk to a new all-time low?

To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!

All caps, so you know we mean business.
I just can not believe that tweet.
Or, maybe it's the fact that I can not believe that I DO believe that tweet.

Very Stable Genius draws a red line. Because that worked so well for his predecessor.
Gee, think Iran won't say bad things now? *snort, of course they will.

Trump's bluff WILL be called. Which leaves the United States with two options:
  • Damage our word and our honor. To act the fool that Trump is.
  • Go to war with Iran.
Our commander in chief is a !@#$ing moron.

If this fucker wants to rattle sabers, stick him on a horse, give him a sword and have him lead an army of red hats and their precious AR-15's against the Iranian Army. Put up or shut.

*bone spurs not withstanding of course

Trump governs by Twitter and this is nothing new. Little Rocket Man, firing people, etc. This is business as usual.

Iran probably doesn't even care.

Quite simply because the JCPOA is still valid with the other 5 countries and Iran has been selling oil cheaper to China and India to raise cash.

The only thing that slightly changed with the bufoon withdrawing us from the JCPOA is that Boeing lost 19 billion dollars worth of orders which Airbus and Comac are eager to pick up and Airbus isn't scared of tariffs or sanctions since they have a plant on US soil so it wouldn't apply to them.

Thanks for this in-depth, carefully considered response based on cool-headed logic. I was worried you'd just shout something obscene because you had no way to defend Trump's childish behavior.

I think he was just paraphrasing Trump's tweet?

That could easily pass for a 13 year old raging in all caps in an online game of counterstrike. He is good with Russia and Putin, but Iran warrants an all caps rage case tweet.

Must play better to his base. Russians are the wrong complexion to hate on. The irony is the US shares some responsibility for the destabilizing of Iran by facilitating the coup that put the Shah in place. Which then led to the revolution that put the religious fanatics in control. All motivated by oil, sounds familiar...

We can always lob a few Tomahawks at claimed nuke sites. What's the worst that could happen?

I think the Airbus order is screwed too and possibly comac, because both use a lot of American made items that can't be exported to Iran.

In all fairness Pompeo actually had some good points about the level of corruption in Iran's leadership. Instead of acting like a child posting weak sounding tweets in all caps Trump should keep hammering on that subject. Threatening a country is only going to force its people to come together against a common perceived threat. Telling them how corrupt their leaders are and providing evidence would do far more to encourage the kind of dissent that would lead to the change we really want to see in Iran. Hammer that message home repeatedly and often. Not the beta all caps dick waving tweets.

Any one know what actually prompted this tweet?
https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/22/world/iran-rouhani-mother-wars/index.html

(CNN)Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is warning the US that war with Iran would be "the mother of all wars" but did not rule out the possibility of a peace agreement.

Americans "must understand that war with Iran is the mother of all wars and peace with Iran is the mother of all peace," Rouhani said while addressing diplomats Sunday in Tehran, according to Iran's state-run news agency IRNA.

The Iranian leader also had a message for US President Trump: "do not play with the lion's tail, because you will regret it eternally."
His comments come months after the Trump administration announced that the US is quitting the Iran nuclear deal brokered during the Obama administration and reinstating sanctions on the country. The sanctions are set to be reimposed November 4, and more than 50 international firms have said they will leave the Iranian market, Brian Hook, a State Department policy and planning director, said earlier this month.

Long story short, Iran threw a line into the water, and our leader took the bait - hook, line and sinker

Please note how POTUS only raged on the "war" part and not the "peace" part of the bait.

Trump really is like having your clueless, racist grandpa running the country. You know, the one who genuinely believes he has the right answers for all the world's problems (usually involving simplistic solutions like bombing a country to dust) but can't even keep his own life in order.

Can we have Trump lead the way similar to this? Id love to see a photoshop of Trumps head and waving a MAGA hat as he rides this bad boy.

A big fat gift to the Iranian hardliners. The most effective way to stifle internal Iranian dissent is to give them a common enemy.

So stupid.

Trump has only the bigliest brain, the best brain. He really is very smart, he went to Wharton after all.
