I do wonder if we could get Trump to reverse some of his terrible decisions by pointing out that he's doing the thing he told Obama not to do. Then again, Trump thrives on saying one thing and doing another, so I'm not sure this would carry much weight.

The irony is the US shares some responsibility for the destabilizing of Iran by facilitating the coup that put the Shah in place. Which then led to the revolution that put the religious fanatics in control. All motivated by oil, sounds familiar...

In this case it is motivated by the long term U.S. policy of solidifying Saudi hegemony in the region by destroying all rivals. Why our government thinks elevating the most whack, anti-western regime in the region to supremacy is a mystery.

They need a crisis to exploit before the mid-terms..

It is unhinged, and also childish, stupid, embarrassing and pointless. But it gave the lazy media a clickbait headline and Trump's base a collective orgasm, so look for more to come.

As Trump is finding out, in world politics, having a history of bad faith negotiations sticks with you, threatening war isn't all that effective.
