Sounds like you can't control your children. A result of Bad paranting no doubt.

Oh, and stop trying to blame others for your misbehaving children.

This issue was on the news last night, they interviewed some high school girl off the street, and she was talking about how it was a bad idea and most of her friends are not mature enough or well enough informed to vote. Ironically, she seemed like one of the few kids that could handle voting responsibly.

I'm for it. In fact, I think its unfair to only give them half or a fourth of a vote. They should be counted as full votes. Teens are not as stupid as you grand parents out there think they are.
Oh yes they are... and we should know. We WERE teens at one time. Why the fsck do you think we know they're so damn ignorant?
You were ignorant because you didn't have a right to vote. If you had the right to vote, you would've taken the time to review the issues.
That is quite possibly the stupidest post I have seen yet on ATOT. Just when you thought people couldn't get any worse...

Kind of a stupid idea. Most teenagers are too stupid to know what's good for them or the country as a whole. On the other hand, if that is our benchmark for voting, I think a lot of people shouldn't be allowed to vote. Any way you look at it, it's pretty arbitrary. Yes, a lot of teenagers are stupid and they grow up to simply become older versions of the same stupid, ignorant, self-absorbed people. And trust me on this, those same people are just as stupid at 18 as they were at 16. Like I said, it's pretty arbitrary.

Um, no. Kids are KIDS. They have less life experience, less wisdom and their BS detectors are still growing.

Give it up. There is a reason kids have no rights... because they aren't mature enough to deal with them.

So the truth comes out and since you don't have any black relatives, then black people shouldn't be allowed to vote either I suppose.

Crazy idea to be sure, but if you think 14-16 teenagers are going to the polling booth and vote...a large number of college age people don't even vote.

Al Gore's folks were out buying the homeless vote in Florida with packs of cigarettes in 2000. If this goes through, they can buy the teen vote in California with N'SYNC and Britney Spears CDs.

Maybe you should learn how to make a rational argument?

Nah, he's not smart enough for that. He'd rather make unfounded racist allegations and pray that the people that are kicking his ass in the argument back off out of fear.

So 14 year olds are old enough to participate in the decision making process that governs everyones lives but not mature enough to have a beer? What a country!

If this goes through, they should be allowed to have quarter-beers, dammit!

Woohoo... not only a troll, but a little lying e-thug :disgust:

Children shouldn't vote because they are children. Get that through your head. Or, by your own argument, should infants be allowed to vote?
rolleye.gif
Does your discrimination have no end?
rolleye.gif

Black adults OTOH are just a capable of voting as adults of any other race. I strongly support voting rights for ALL adults. I suppose it's really easy for a little pansy like you to make completely unfounded allegations of racism behind the safety of the computer screen... :disgust:

The difference between children and adult in voting is that adults have maturity and experience, both of which are invaluable in making a proper informed decision. If children aren't considered mature enough to drink or smoke, then they certainly aren't old enough to vote!

Oh well, I'm not "feeding the troll" anymore on this one.

I'm not sure which is worse, a 14 year old with 1/4 of a vote, or an 18 year old with a full vote.

I can think of ways to do this in which I'd be OK with it. Easing them into the voting process might increase participation, participation levels right now are terrible.

In general I would be opposed to the concept, but done properly it could be helpful.
