You can like, or dislike, whatever you want. Declaring one group worthy of the "real music" label and another group "crap" is another story. Hence my emphatic eye-rolling.
radiohead = crap
Really? Why don't you quantify that opinion for us and explain precisely why they are "crap"?

Because they don't use Macs in their studio? :p

Actually, they love Macs.

Still think they suck, Mr PowerMacInMyPants4Ever?

That was kinda directed at both of you, but more at Rob the Almighty for being such a pompous blowhard.

I personally hate radiohead, you ever see their live shows? How about when they were on SNL? The guy can barely stand, can't keep his eyes open, and i didn't think it was possile to blur all your lyrics together more than a radiohead album, then i heard radiohead live.

You know, ordinarily I'd be pissed about a comment like that, but in your particular case I'm not. You see, I'm actually happy that you've overcome the potential handicap of a double-digit IQ and learned to use the intarweb to share your thoughts and opinions. You are an inspriation to us all. :)

Why would you even be pissed about it? It's ridiculous! Seriously, third graders can come up with better stuff than that.

That's what turned me off too, the SNL appearance! The next day everyone was talking about what a great perfromance it was. I could have sworn I was in the Twilight Zone. <Rod Sterling>"Imagine yourself on a world where everyone thinks bad music is good."</Rod Sterling> That was the worst attempt at creating music that I had ever heard. And it blows my mind that someone would think that was great. I know music is a subjective art, and I rarely bag on someone's musical tastes, but I think there's a line that's crossed where it's an objective question as to whether this qualifies as good or not. I could fart into a microphone, and it's not good music (although it would sound much better than that SNL performance).

News flash: Everyone sounds like ass on SNL unless they're lipsynching. That particular song is one of their more....er...."experimental" efforts anyway. What with the psycho horn section and all. :p

I'm curious. How is it that you have such a painfully simple intellect and yet have a Purdue email addy? Campus security? Janitorial services? Cafeteria technician?

That sucks, but maybe something good will come of a hiatus. The Bends is one of my favorite albums, but their newer stuff I really don't care for quite as much.

That comeback was as crappy as radiohead's latest album.

If you know anything about Radiohead at all you'd know they got screwed in their record contract with Capitol, and they're just releasing EPs from now on since their 6 disc contract with them is up. As far as stepping out of the music industry, they're most likely going to release stuff on their own now. Radiohead is one of the most consistently amazing bands still recording today, but music is subjective so it really doesn't matter if you don't like them.

Do some research into Kid A and Amnesiac, why they were created, and you'll understand why Thom did that on purpose. Let's just hate something we don't understand why don't we?

I'm not defending them, though I think they are probably my favourite band, I just think you should research what you're talking about before you make up your mind about that era of Radiohead. You can like whatever you want to, but please get the facts straight.

And as far as HTTT being called "crappy" I think you kind of missed the purpose of the album. Thom himself said it wasn't the best record because it's something they've already done. They created OK Computer 2 in a sense, and he says he'd rather not be in music than rehash something they did years ago. Capitol was pretty much forcing them to create an album, so they chose a concept album about their current political views and put it on a record. I personally love the CD, but it's not my favourite because of this. To me, it's forced genius. It's like why the new APC album wasn't so great. Yeah, the songs are amazing, but it's something we've all heard before. It's not progression, and that's how you measure the quality of music in my opinion.

Their music has been consistently going downhill, so I see this as no great loss.
I'm not defending them
If you're not defending them I can't imagine what a defense would look like :) In regards to the comment above about the lyrics being mashed together and your saying why they did it, the reasoning is moot if the end product is disliked by the consumer. Personally I don't give a rat's ass about why they do anything. I know that their first real album was very good and I've liked the others less and less since. OK computer was the last I gave the time of day to because I saw their sound getting less and less musical and more industrial noise (if I had to give it a genre). And by that I mean just a messy throwing together of sounds that don't really tickle my fancy.

Whether I "get" radiohead or not doesn't matter to me. I simply don't care for them anymore.
