Seriously, get a hobby... find something to do. Take Karate, join a book club, volunteer... meet people. You can't make friends sitting inside all day. At least not the kind of friends you'd really want.

what's dangerous about the internet is that it makes you FEEL like you have a lot of friends. that really messed me up during college... i could have met so much more people!

I can relate a little bit. My problem was I moved away from family and friends and just had a hard time meeting new people, it's getting better though.

I would suggest finding a good church to go to and as others have said, get out and do things.

this is my advice, do you play Poker? if not, learn. Then go on Craig's list and you can almost always find a group of local people looking for players. On there you could end up with a group where nobody really knows anybody else. Friendly gambling is a great way to make friends. The dudes I play with, outside of poker I don't have much in common with a lot of them. But I still get invited to ones sons birthday and they ask me to come chill even when we were not playing cards sometimes. We bonded pretty well.

Of course I'm pretty social, I just lack friends because I'm mostly too lazy to go outside
