So this is why Christians are so hated? Me thinks Darwin got it all wrong...we're not evolving, we're devolving.

Bigotry is rooted in an unconscious disgust one was forced to feel about one's self before the age when a we as children could critically reason. This amorphous feeling gets attached to things by rationalizations and unexamined associations later in life. In this case Hal has identified an event in the world that caused him to feel that disgust and spontaneously and without thought, as a means of attack, simply spouted out that his feeling of the enormity of his self hate must account for why everybody must also feel it about Christians. This is how truthiness works, the need, not only to be right, but to enjoy the ego satisfaction that you are, to unconsciously imagine and believe that your personal disgust for yourself is universal. And since self hate IS a universal, there will always be many many other bigots who will chime in with the same bigotry by a similar process of projection.

But beyond disgust, is there any other origin of a sounder form of truth? There is none that causes an irrational disgusted reaction. However, since even monkeys know when things are unjust, there may be some form in genetic morality that goes along genetically with being a primate and which in man may express itself as the certain feeling we have inalienable rights and even that they are so objectively internally sensed as factual, they may as well have come from the Creator, which, as genetic manifestations, they, in some fashion or another, obviously did.

Thus it seems to me that to any rational and say, non-conforming-to-doctrine Catholic the idea that a 9 year old rape victim and the rapist undergo what we read here would seem to be a travesty of justice. But to any such mind that can truly reason without an unconscious need to feel disgusted and project outward one's inner hate, that is to say, to a mind that is truly free of hate, there can be no blame. The Catholic Church set themselves up as the representatives of Absolute Truth and uttered it. They allowed perfection to become the enemy of the good. They chose to equate the sanctity of life with the sperm and the egg as the only important and overriding truth. Once they fixated on that colossal stupidity, all the rest of what we see has followed, absurd absolute pronouncements and a following who to a massive degree, no pun intended, ignore the church leaders. They turned religion into a clown act and cost untold numbers their Christian faith.

This is simply another example of the conservative brain defect in action. Nobody is to blame, nobody is disgusting, the blind are blind and cannot see.

Couldn't finish the article, I got as far as some Catholic priest mentioning "protection" and gave up.

The Church turning a blind eye to the rapist, hrmmm, where have I seen this before?

Article said it was a life saving procedure. Damn this girl for not forfeiting her life so she could probably die along with the child of her rapist!

Ignatius told his flock of Jesuits that if they saw white and the church said it was black then they should proclaim it to be black!

That means the reasoning we apply to anything as Catholics must be subordinated to the Church's position. The church is filled with priests and bishops and stuff and such that are fully aware of the entire situation as much as anyone else... They focus on stuff in a different way, however... IOW, they determine if there is a greater truth that conflicts with any other truth and pronounce what they do as both a specific and general theme. To the Church and regardless of the Society they inhabit the conception notion overrides everything else.

I once asked if God creates a soul and places it in this unborn potential person and each and every fetus/person that ever will exist or has or is there a bucket of souls that find their way to the fetus/person at some point that is consistent and predetermined... Or stated differently, each fetus is within the grand scheme that God has established... but, then how could that be if God knows the fetus will be aborted and is the soul replaced in the bucket or heaven or where ever.

Either God don't know stuff or the notion of souls is a bit off or some such... IOW, I see white and it is white and remains so until something acts upon it to alter it to yellow or what not.

The church can't answer me my question so they can't determine the abortion issue from the greater truth pov.... besides, I don't live in the church... I pay property taxes to Caesar and I'll follow his law while here... and Jesus' law about loving God and mankind.

Edit: You're right, Moonbeam, there can be no blame because the motivator is evil. God apparently made the devil soooo Language is to blame... as far as God goes... as far as society goes blame is not really considered in the pure sense... factual violation of law is.

Are you saying people hate you because of your beliefs? That is not the case at all. People hate your beliefs because they were warped thousands of years ago when they were created and are downright anti-people in this day and age. For a church to condemn a 9 year old rape victim for getting an abortion, even if it DIDN'T risk her life, is an abomination.

God is shaking his head and weeping for this little girl.

Again, bashing the entire religion/belief for some religion bureaucrat's stand. Even Brazil's president, who is a Catholic, openly said he disagrees with this overly conversative decision.

So are you saying all pro-lifer are anti-people? Or just this one decision by the few old cleric heading Latin America Catholic organization? How do you know Asia, America, Europe Catholic organization would make the same decision, and every single Catholic person would made the same decision, even if they follow the same principle belief? Even within those who are pro-life, most would understand the decision to have abortion to save the life of the mother.

And get your fact straight. The church condemned the mother of the girl and the doctor for making the abortion decision and performing the percedure, not the girl herself.

According to the Catholic Church until recent events (somewhat) we are moving about according to the will of God.... We were NOT even Revolving for awhile and no one dare disagree.... Give the Church power within a society and they will seize upon that to control almost every aspect of human behavior.
It is the Church and its princes and all that who seek to replace the Universally accepted Freedoms with what they determine to be God's will and they'll terminate you if you don't agree, given the power to do that. Fear is strong among Christians and Fear is what the Church uses to manipulate the folks who subordinate their Love of Jesus for the Love of the Church... They are two diametrically opposed entities... as I see it... and, assuming we move along the diameter versus the circumference

I'm Christian and I say abort the little rapist spawn, make it mandatory in all cases of rape regardless of how the mother to be thinks about it. We should not let predators breed more of the same. The soul enters the body at the first breath, not before.

Or...you know...we could leave it up to the woman that has to deal with the consequences to make the decision. :\
