CreativeTom,
I've had lengthy discussions with friends about this article. In fact, my roommate is from Moorestown.
First off, read the article. Their reasoning is ridiculous. The school system is good because they had to hire a second Latin teacher? Are you kidding? My high school had three latin teachers, that doesn't make it a good school. Also, look at who they ranked top50 from PA. YORK. They left out the nice areas of PA, like delco and bucks county, as well as parts of Berks, for YORK? That alone invalidates their entire study in my opinion. Also, from the way they describe it...I'd wouldn't want to live there. Sounds BORING.
As for Jersey in general...with the exception of Central Jersey(which most Jerseyites claim doesn't count), Jersey has NO IDENTITY. South Jersey? Suburb of Philly(the article explicitley states that 50% of the work force commutes to Philly). North Jersey? Suburb of NYC. You don't watch your own sports teams, there are two in central jersey, no one in Jersey even likes them...its all Philly and New York fans. Hell, you HAVE two NFL teams, and neither of them will even be associated with the state. I've never heard of the New Jersey Giants.
What the fvck is a jug handle for? Its the worst traffic design ever. Never heard of a left turn lane? Its awful. Circles aren't much better...in fact they are worse. Jersey roads are terrible.
Jersey sucks, and thats a scientific fact.
Without South Jersey Philly teams wouldn't have half the fans they have now. Especially the Flyers (every other house you see a Flyers banner whenever they are in the playoffs). As far as identity, how about the Jersey shore in the south, or our favorite place to go late nights, either one of the millions of diners in Jersey or WAWA. What the hell do you want for a regional identity? BTW Lockeed Martin, Boeing, BASF and several other major companies have huge facilities in South Jersey.
And if North Jersey is just a suburb of NYC, are you saying its the same was White Plains or any other suburbs. NO way in hell is it the same, North Jersey is far different from any NYC suburb you can find in New York. There are the beautiful areas like most of Morris County and then the nicer/cheaper alternatives to NYC like Hoboken and Bayonne. NJ is a state like any other, I don't see idiots have to rag on it when it has some of the best jobs and nicest areas in the country.
