I've had lengthy discussions with friends about this article. In fact, my roommate is from Moorestown.

First off, read the article. Their reasoning is ridiculous. The school system is good because they had to hire a second Latin teacher? Are you kidding? My high school had three latin teachers, that doesn't make it a good school. Also, look at who they ranked top50 from PA. YORK. They left out the nice areas of PA, like delco and bucks county, as well as parts of Berks, for YORK? That alone invalidates their entire study in my opinion. Also, from the way they describe it...I'd wouldn't want to live there. Sounds BORING.

As for Jersey in general...with the exception of Central Jersey(which most Jerseyites claim doesn't count), Jersey has NO IDENTITY. South Jersey? Suburb of Philly(the article explicitley states that 50% of the work force commutes to Philly). North Jersey? Suburb of NYC. You don't watch your own sports teams, there are two in central jersey, no one in Jersey even likes them...its all Philly and New York fans. Hell, you HAVE two NFL teams, and neither of them will even be associated with the state. I've never heard of the New Jersey Giants.

What the fvck is a jug handle for? Its the worst traffic design ever. Never heard of a left turn lane? Its awful. Circles aren't much better...in fact they are worse. Jersey roads are terrible.

Jersey sucks, and thats a scientific fact.

Without South Jersey Philly teams wouldn't have half the fans they have now. Especially the Flyers (every other house you see a Flyers banner whenever they are in the playoffs). As far as identity, how about the Jersey shore in the south, or our favorite place to go late nights, either one of the millions of diners in Jersey or WAWA. What the hell do you want for a regional identity? BTW Lockeed Martin, Boeing, BASF and several other major companies have huge facilities in South Jersey.

And if North Jersey is just a suburb of NYC, are you saying its the same was White Plains or any other suburbs. NO way in hell is it the same, North Jersey is far different from any NYC suburb you can find in New York. There are the beautiful areas like most of Morris County and then the nicer/cheaper alternatives to NYC like Hoboken and Bayonne. NJ is a state like any other, I don't see idiots have to rag on it when it has some of the best jobs and nicest areas in the country.

LOL, that's pretty funny.

Jersey rocks. Everyone likes the New Jersey shore. New Yorkers flock down in droves and completely ruin some shores, like Seaside. It's basically a New York ghetto now.

And PA wanted a shore of their own, so they named a town "Jersey Shore". But it's not the Jersey shore. They're just a cheap imitation.

It's a waste to move into Moorestown from another town anymore. Too expensive, taxes too high. The school system is decent enough, but a big part of it scoring so high in this ranking is the "sale" of special needs students to neighboring districts which artificially inflates the scores.

Actually the jughandle is a simple and innovative derivative of the cloverleaf that you use all the time on highways. It greatly simplifies and improves safety of large intersections as it eliminates the need to make left-hand turns across multiple lanes of potentially high-speed traffic, as well as the potential for cars blocking the left lane waiting to make a left a turn. It also reduces the number of cycles that a light has to make.

The only failing of jughandles is inconsistent application - sometimes the jug is before the light, sometimes it's after. Sometimes divided highways have jughandles, sometimes they don't. If there were always jughandles on divided highways and they always came before or after the light, there would be no confusion.

Besides, it's not like there are no circles or jughandles in PA or other states.

lol....actually I was far from rich growing up and I didn't live in Moorestown. I do however live there now with my beautiful wife, and I have been able to afford to live here by working hard. Yes I have some money now, was I born into a rich family....no. I think what you need "EyeMWing" is to stop being so angry at life, maybe you should seek some help for the anger problem. I think anger like that usually stems from someone who doesn't like themselves very much (low self esteem), they have drugs for that now.

Okay, now. you're an asshat, too. Learn to take a joke, tard, and go back to your little perfect world where the happy pills help make everything oh so wonderful - and stay the fsck out of mine.

Well I didn't really want to be in your life....too dark and scary of a place. I think you should stop insulting others, and try to feel better of the life that you are leading. The "happy pills" that you speak of, I don't need those, but maybe once you see a profesional for your issues, that person may feel you need more then one type of "happy pill" a day.

LOL, ya so CNN and some nutjobs over there classify it as "The best place to live" and so you act like their opinion is the be all, end all.

Whatever dude, NJ is the a$$hold of the US, and everyone who lives outside of Jersey knows this. Bare in mind that doesn't mean all communities, just most. I'm sure the one you live in is good, but to think its the best because of this article is pretty naive.

1) Wawa is far inferior to Sheetz
2) Your Flyers comment is exactly my point. NEW JERSEY ACTUALLY HAS A HOCKEY TEAM. Yet you mooch off of ours because, well, we're better than you.
3) Ok, so North Jersey would be what it was were not not right across from NYC? Wrong.

The Jersey shore is the worst shores on the east coast...or in the country for that matter. We only go there for geographical convienence...fine though, I'll give you the shores...but we have the sports teams, the jobs, and the reason there is any money more than 10 miles from the shore.

They are far more frequent in Jersey. The inconsistancies are the worst part, yes, if you want to make a left turn...what lane do you get in? You just don't know. Also...no, they aren't better than left turn lanes. A suffient size left turn lane, along with a left turn signal, is all you need. In ultra-high traffic situations, is the jug handle more efficient? Maybe in some instances...but 99% of the time its slower and more frustrating.

The only time I ever stopped in Jersey was at some roadside diner. The food was good, but there was a distinct smell of cowsh!t when I opened the car door.

North Jersey is especially bad. New York really craps on it. New York itself is crap.

.

Your town makes less than twice the "best towns average", yet the cost of housing is more than twice as much. The reason the poor people buy BMW's is because they can't afford a house, so they just rent and spend the money on crap like that.

It looks good if you're stupid and care about image, but in reality your net worth will be much less since 1) you couldn't buy an asset like a house and 2) you instead sunk your money into a liability like a car.

New Jersey sucks so much that even the power of the greatest place to live can make the entire state average out to being decent. ;)

1) Sheetz blows, 1 gallon lemonade for $1.50 is unbeatable on your way to the shore.
2) Are you an idiot? Sports are regional, that's how it works everywhere you go. How many Red Sox fans are actually from Massachusetts?. Just because a team is named the New Jersey Devils doesn't mean I'm going to drive 2 1/2 hours to see a game when the Flyers are a 1/2 hour away and a far better team.
3) Of course not, but the same can be said for the surrounding area of New York. Does that mean it has no identity?
