That's the thing.. The engine itself can make scenes that look like the first questionable pic I posted. Current systems just can support rendering at the level of quality though, so the games themselves are dumbed down a bit so they are playable.

I don't think it looks like a real photo at all. If the source was a real photo, its been shopped up to be artistic looking. Alot of the dirty and stuff on the path looks generated. The grass totally looks like something CryEngine could do.

um, in each of the pics in the link you posted there are obvious signs in every one that you are looking at a video game screenshot. I'm not denying they are very good graphics but you can obviously tell they are from a game.

I don't quite get that feeling with the OPs screenshot.

He's just trying to show people who come in and claim the pic is an obvious fake that cry engine 2 could potentially produce very realistic renders.
