So that you get a good view of the road, it isn't obstructed by the view of the hands, gun, etc. and still has the hud to show it is crysis?? I have no idea.

Either way, you can look at the screenshots I posted from CE2 that look damn near as good as the supposed fake.. and those are from the old engine.

I remember seeing these kinds of screenshots for the first crisis (that were real, from the developer). Don't you guys remember those shots comparing an in game screenshot next to the photograph it was modeled after?

Maybe he's in spectator mode, maybe the screenshot removes clutter minus HUDs, could be anything.

I haven't played Crysis... there's guns in it, right? Why display the HUD and no gun? If this is supposed to just be a sample picture, why take the gun out and leave the HUD?

I know there are times in FPSes where there is a HUD displayed but no gun, but how often do you see that in a screenshot?

It was to prove a point 😛. The main reason I think the Crysis screenshot is fake is because there is action going on. Look at the minimap, he has enemies right next to him, why would they turn around just to snap a shot of the road? Also, he has a gun out, but you can't see it.

He may of turned around just to take the screenshot (possibly died after) and there might be a view to hide the gun, I've seen some FPSes do that.

The only thing that I did notice is odd is according to the map the sun is east, which would mean it's morning, I would expect it to be lower.

But regardless the known good screenshots are just as impressive.

Well, there is the game. Then there is the Sandbox, which was used to create the game. When the game gets rendered down, it is processed in a way that machines can handle it.

When you see the Crysis VS Reality screen shots, they are typically taken from within the Editor, at a stand still. This way you can turn everything up, and take the shot.

What this shows, and has been discussed, is that the Engine itself is capable. It's the machines that are running it which hold the engine back. The published game does not allow from graphics settings that are obviously not workable by any consumer grade machine. But you can edit the xml config and get amazing results.

Well then, you need to google 'Crysis VS reality' to see how close to real photographs they have gotten some screenshots to be. This is why this "screenshot" was debateable. There are Crysis pics that are "obviously real" until you find out they aren't.

I still think it's glaringly obvious which is real and which is fake. Don't get me wrong, it's damn impressive, but that pic in the OP is in no way confusing with in-game footage, we're just not there yet.

Yeah pretty easy to fake. Here's mine using the supposed HL3 screen shot and a random wooded scene from the internet. This took all of 35 minutes with AutoCAD Raster and Microsoft Photo Editor.

Look at the pics at the bottom. It's a little easier to tell when you look at the full res versions, but still. It's questionable. You have to really look.

And this is all CE2 shots. CE3 shots are yet to be released, and they have all kinds of new lighting and texture techniques in the new engine.

LOL back when it was Far Cry the boys on ATi forums were doing the same and their chops were way better with gun blazing and all. This is a pretty bad chop. The HUD icons are crooked for crying out loud!🙁
