think i have enough mags for my AK?

As for the poster lookin for a .22, just go to Wallymart. Even a $100 Savage (come with scope) bolt action is pretty accurate. I really enjoy the little level action .22's, great for plinking.

If want something advertised as highly accurate, just pick up almost any gun mag and look at the ads.

For .22 ammo, Walymart is the place to go. If you're looking for other calibers - best place is through companies that sell direct to dealers. They don't require you to have a license if you're just ordering ammo. They'll ship it to you direct with no paperwork.

If you're looking for that type of ammo (.38, .44, AK stuff etc.) PM after 3/15 and I'll see if I can hunt up some info for you.

i looked at walmart. the $100 guns are well cheap. they just feel cheap.

i was looking at the savage 40. but at $300+ its a little high but its a nice gun

what the fvck are you gonna do with all that ammo? Unless you want to wipe out the deer population, that's pretty damn excessive.

Yeah, they do feel "cheap". It's the plastic stock IMHO. Hehe, I tried to take mine back and get one with a wooden stock, caused a panic in Walmart. I just went in and walked back to the sporting goods department with the rifle in the box. The guys at the counter freaked. I realized they were right. Somebody at the entrance prolly got fired.

Even so, it shoots pretty darn well. Far more accurate than I expected for a $100 rifle. Nevr had a mis-feed or any problems with the mag, the action or scope. With .22 LR ammo at a penny or less per round it's inexpensive entertainment if you enjoy plinking.

Bad idea.

The AK-47 is an awesome rifle. I wish they did the chrome-lining to M16 barrels as well.

Deer hunting with 7.62x39 isnt the best thing to do. And you have no idea how quickly ammo can go when at the range, do you?

why? ballistically it is pretty close to a 30-30. all you need is to get some 7.62x39 softpoints and you will be fine.

why? ballistically it is pretty close to a 30-30. all you need is to get some 7.62x39 softpoints and you will be fine.

Power behind it is lacking at range, which is the reason you would use a rifle for deer hunting. If its close, grab a shotgun. Using an AK or its ammo to hunt deer is just stupid considering the better options available.

AK47 isn't a powerful rifle. there are deer rifles that FAR outpower it. the AK is nothing more than a fun, cheap shooter for punching paper or hunting medium game. the ballistics are slightly worse than the winchester 30-30

You can't call a gun "powerful" in general. Each has certain areas where it is good at. I would not be too overly worried about someone shooting an AK-47 at me from 600 yards. If the person had a 30-06 or so, I would be much more so. Now, let's take any .22 (about the smallest caliber you will find normally). A .22, which is not often used for hunting (anything bigger than a squirrel) can still easily kill a human. How about a shotgun? Depending on what it is loaded with, at 175 yards you would not be likely to incapacitate a person.

considering how many deer have been taken with a 30-30 i would say a 7.62x39 would be fine.

how would it be stupid if you have AK? i am not talking about long distance, 300yrd shots here, i am talking ~100yds. plus they are cheap and if you already have one why not use it on game it can take in a responsible way?

Well it is a $100 gun... I put a better scope on it and it is pretty accurate considering it was so cheap:)

I have a few AK's. Built most of them. Us made receiver, tapco compliance kits. Yugo underfolder kits from 1989. I got 40 30 rd mags got 9.99 each. Ill never use them probably, but if another ban goes up, they will probably go up in value.

Wow a gun thread in computer forum, LOL.

Love my AK as well as you, especially bump firing with the cheap ammo. Although I am impatiently awaiting the PS90 I ordered to go with my FiveseveN and someday the FS2000. I got impatient the other day and already bought some mags for the P90. The 5.7 round is expensive but definately the funnest thing ive shot yet. Although I bought a 454 Casull and its definately the funnest thing to watch someone else shoot, i need a camera to catch the reactions after the first shot. Damn funny.

On a side note: I always love how anti gun people always seem to revert back to guns when presented with the cars kill more yearly scenario. They just ignore any facts that give firearms a positive light. A car like a gun is an inanimate object, it can in no way kill by its self than a rock. But you put it in the hands of an irresponsible person and it has the potential. If any person is bent on causing harm to another it wont matter if guns are present, they will find a way. I like to pose the question at times to the un educated: In this day in age were the ingredients to manufacture a bomb from ingredients easily aquired from grocery and hardware stores, and the easily availible instructions to make one. Would you rather criminals and people intent on killing use them instead, where you do have a chance to get away or survive an attack with a firearm?

There is a quote from a Japanese General that the only reason they didnt invade the US on its own soil was that we all owned guns and it would be foolish to atempt it. Take away our guns and we are at risk, if you think that our military would be able to completely protect you its a mistake.

Anyway glad to see some fellow shooters on the computer forum.
