Yeah, you're right. Who gives a $hit about something that nearly everyone depends upon as far as transportation.

Yes, bitching about it will help the situation. We have no control over it, so why worry about it.

How correct you are. Employment isn't a right either. All of this I agree totally with you about.

What I just would like you to give a nodding glance to, is the fact that sooner or later the high fuel prices are going to severly and adversely affect our economy.

It will be more difficult for persons to get to work, there will be increased prices for EVERYTHING (due to the fact that everything you buy is moved in a truck), and inflation will get much worse - in fact much worse than wages.

Really, I acknowledge your correctness in the fact that bitching is not going to solve anything. I've written my congressmen about promoting alternative fuel sources to protect America's future. Other than reducing my spending, and directing my dollars straight out of this country to the Arab Fuel Producing nations - there isn't much I can do about it.

Please just acknowledge that this is a REAL PROBLEM.

It is not something that millions of Americans can just brush off.

Eventually, it will affect you. I can guarantee it may be 10-20 dollars for you now - but what happens when our gas prices get similar to Holland (6.00 plus a gallon now).

Everything you buy in a store will raise in price as well. Hope you don't live in a cold state either - after all it isn't a 'right' to keep warm in the winter.

I suppose all the apartment buildings should just add wood burning stoves.

O wait a minute - we cut down all the trees already.

I'm just looking for an admission that this is a real problem for a lot of ppl.

It may not be a problem for you - but it really is for alot of people.

Also your get a 2nd job reply just isn't practical and you know it.

After all over 8% of Americans can't even find the 1st job right now.

Good post.

You forgot though that according the experts in P&N that most Americans are rich and this won't effect them. Apparently that is the case here in OT too.

Lets see... 30mpg. 30 mile commute each way. 2 gallons per day. $3/gallon. That's $6/day. $1080 total. Still cheaper than living on campus. Doesn't matter to me :p

Oh, and it is my opinion that the middle east has passed or is nearing peak oil. That means that the balance of power in oil is about to shift from OPEC to the Gulf of Mexico nations, including the United States.

Same up here in north Maryland (except every once in awhile you can get under $2). Only those Baltimorons are paying waytoomuch for gas.

The rising gas prices are killing me. It was almost bearable at $1.70/gal but at over $2/gal my commutes are painful. Even in a Lancer a 76 mile round trip takes a lot of gas. :(

It's balmoron to you, hon! ;-)

You think Baltimore prices are high? Try heading down to Potomac Maryland. Their prices prices are typically 30 cents higher then they are in Baltimore.

Haha. I try to stay away from the southerners as much as possible. We're a different breed of redneck up here, and I think I might end up killing.

And, for the record, I filled up the turbovan yesterday. I've found an effective strategy for not caring about how much gas costs is not to look at the pump and use the credit card tied to dad's account :p

I'm glad to see everyone is so rich.

One thing I'd like to see done in the US is allowing some of the very small cars that they use in Europe. I'd gladdly have a little 2 banger that got me around at basic speeds and was good on gas.
