I bought a car last weekend because of gas prices. I normally drive a truck that gets 18-19 mpg on the highway. So I bought a car with a 200 hp V6 that gets 27 mpg on the highway. It was worth it, but not just for the gas savings.

Nothing you can do about it...I get 12MPG...oh well...

Serously, no sh$t. People at my work b$tch all the time about gas prices. "You know I was goimg to fill up yesterday when gas was $1.85 but didn't, and today it is at $1.95. I am so mad I didn't fill up yesterday!" WTF kind of crap is that....you knew you V10 truck only got 11 mpg when you bought the damn thing. So don't go out to lunch 1 day a week and you will more than make up the difference in price.

Sundog - not to fight with ya, but believe it or not there are those whose budgets ARE that tight. I agree there is alot of bitching from folks that this likely does not really hurt. Unfortuantly, I do know some (myself included) that these prices are killing.

It isn't because I live extravagently in my 2 bedroom apartment and one used car either. . .

Oil prices are rising - one major refinery was destroyed in this week's explosion at BP, and inventories are down.

$60+ oil and $3 gas are around the corner, IMO.

Destroyed? Where are you getting your information from?
The CEO has said the explosion probably reduced plant output by 5 percent or less. It is far from destroyed and is still pumping out fuel.
